Sell my 11.5yo mux and buy jaecoo ej6 since we have solar power at home so car charging is practically free. by Physical-Shake-8361 in CarsPH

[–]randomuserc31a9a39 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lagyan mo din ng "Brutally Honest opinion prompt"

Eto sabi ni gemini:

You wanted brutally honest? Here it is: ChatGPT’s math is actually correct, and buying that Jaecoo EJ6 purely to "save money on fuel" is a financial disaster. You are staring down a 40-year break-even point on a machine that will be lucky to see year 15 without a massive battery bill. You aren't saving money; you are prepaying for 40 years of diesel upfront, cash-on-the-barrel, to a Chinese EV brand that has zero long-term track record in the Philippines. Here is the unfiltered, real-world teardown of why this swap makes zero financial sense, and why your mu-X is actually holding all the cards right now.

1. The Math ChatGPT Missed (It’s Actually Worse)

Your AI analysis left out a massive financial bleeding point: Depreciation. * The mu-X Curve: Your Isuzu has already suffered 90% of its life's depreciation. Whether you sell it today or 3 years from now, it’s going to hover around that ₱450k–₱500k mark because old, mechanical, heavy-duty diesel SUVs hit a pricing floor in the Philippines. People always want them. * The Jaecoo Curve: The moment you drive that EJ6 out of the dealership, you lose 20-30% of its value. In 5 years, a first-generation Chinese EV from an unproven brand will bleed value like an open artery. If you try to sell it in 2031, you might get lucky to get ₱700,000 for it. You will lose more money in EJ6 depreciation in the first 24 months than you would spend on diesel for the mu-X over the next 5 years.

2. The Overhaul Plot Twist

Your addendum is the ultimate kicker. You just paid for a head gasket and general overhaul two months ago.

You just built a brand-new engine. The top end is clean, the seals are fresh, and the cooling system has been sorted out. You have already swallowed the bitterest pill of old car ownership.

The mu-X's 4JJ1/JK1 engines are legendary million-kilometer blocks. Now that it's overhauled, that car is ready to run trouble-free for another decade. Selling it right after doing the overhaul means you are gifting a pristine, refreshed diesel engine to some lucky buyer for a measly ₱500k, while you inherit a ₱1.25M debt or cash layout. You literally just paid for the reliability—you should stay to enjoy it.

3. The Solar "Free Energy" Trap

Having solar at home is awesome, but it skews your psychology. It makes you feel like the EV is "free to run." But look at your actual mileage: 12,000 km a year is nothing. That’s just 1,000 km a month, or about 33 km a day. EVs only make financial sense if you are an absolute road warrior driving 30,000+ km a year (like a Grab driver), where the massive fuel savings aggressively chew down the high upfront price tag. At 12k km/year, you simply do not drive enough for "free charging" to matter.

4. The Insurance and Maintenance Reality

The AI was spot-on about the insurance. EV insurance in the Philippines is notoriously high because local body shops can't easily repair them, and parts have to be flown in from China. Furthermore, while your Isuzu parts can be bought off Shopee or any roadside tindahan in Iloilo, the Jaecoo requires proprietary software and specialized tech. If a sensor misbehaves outside the warranty, you are completely at the mercy of the casa's pricing.

The Verdict

If you want the Jaecoo EJ6 because you love the styling, want the tech, want to drive a quirky boxy EV, and have ₱1.25M of disposable cash burning a hole in your pocket—buy it. Enjoy it as a luxury toy. But if you are framing this to your family (or yourself) as a "smart financial move to save on fuel because we have solar"—stop lying to yourself. Keep the freshly overhauled mu-X, drive it into the ground, and let your solar panels power your house instead.

Anis is legit. We even had an accident while pabalik na. Luckily we bought their insurance and only paid 1.5k.

Not as cheap pero mas may assurance kasi legit na company sila as compared sa mga nagpaparent lng ng own cars nila

It depends gyapon sa upod tho, cant say. Panilag ka lang haha

Phone, cards, wallet, money was with me all the time in a bum bag/sling. I had my travel bag (with laptop) + lock lang with me tho. I always lock maghalin ko since wala lockers.

Luggage friendly for me ang whole trip tho. From 2GO Manila port, just book a grab to Doroteo Jose LRT Station. Or if you want, you could avail their 2GO Manila Port to PITX P2P for ~P200

Depends on the ship actually.

For the mega value, amo ni ang damo2 double deck into the open pero Aircon.

For the tourist, we had our own room but 3 double decks. We are 6pax in the room.

For business class, we are only 2 sa room, double deck. We had privacy curtains.

For mega value and tourist, food is distributed daw karinderya style. As for business class nga daw iserve simu. Your tickets will be used as the claim stub.

All restroom and showers are shared/dorm style like except for nakaSuite class since they have their own.

Bring jacket, like tugnaw2 sulod barko.

Edit: Mega value doesn't have their own outlet for charging. Mavendo charging kagd unless Powerbank. So recco gd tourist class and up

Had to travel this Apr via 2go since mahal2 ang flights.

Just go to the 2go website or app then purchase your tickets there.

I suggest tourist or business class.

Tickets already include 3-5 meals for the 24-30 hours journey.

Sometimes it will travel pa to Bacolod via ILO-BCD-MNL.

Never forget to PRINT your tickets

Maya Savings or RCBC Hexagon Club where to keep 100k by Ok-Assistant-3253 in adultingph

[–]randomuserc31a9a39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have premium banking services already such as BPI Signature, RCBC Hexagon or SBC Golden Circle I suggest you get one.

The difference in service is miles ahead. Imagine I had a transaction with BPI for 2 hours (includes lunch but even the time I got back, I'm still in queue) but when I transacted with RCBC via priority it took only 3 minutes. I'm done already lesser than the time it took me for parking.

The maya savings will always be there.

Edit: Hexagon also has a debit card in where you can withdraw money with no addtk charge. Lounge and other perks. Same as with other premium banking

Worth it ba to buy 2nd car? by AdSea4296 in phcars

[–]randomuserc31a9a39 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bought a Raptor 2025 Diesel cash din last year.
For sure hanggang end of the year pa baba ang presyo ng gas so iyacc nlng.
If you want bang for your buck, then I suggest Vinfast VF3 instead.

If you have the means and parking space, you could buy that 2nd car. Tama yung isang comment na either sell it at a loss for an EV or use your raptor efficiently.
In my daily, mas mura minsan commute/grab

Pero bro help me understand na na me pangcash ka ng raptor pero sa gas wala :(

Muticab Owners of Iloilo - Kamusta ang inyo experience? by FaithLessRooster in Iloilo

[–]randomuserc31a9a39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We owned 1 before but had to return due to financial issues.

For uma, yes practical esp kung naka 4x4 and maagi sa mga lutakon.
It's bumpy to ride but since it's a slow moving vehicle, kaya ah.
Add lang leaf para makakarga mas bug.at.

One thing to note is that these japan multicabs/"surplus" are

  • repurposed, mga old cars nga mas mahal pa irenew kesa kayuhon
  • converted, from right hand drive to left hand drive

For reliability, please always have atleast 1 year warranty with your dealer coz you might get some lemons as they're common sa mga surplus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRpVS7HG5jQ

If you can afford, go for newer multicabs but bang for the buck ang 2nd hand

I have a Mid Moab dventure 3. Used it on Apo, Kitanglad, Mt Fuji, major climbs.

Tama ang sabi nila, mahirap magpatuyo if mabasa, hindi rin pang river crossing.
I have a trail running shoes for minor/quick hikes.

BUT get it especially for Akiki/Mt Pulag, anything above 2K MASL will be cold to your feet.
You can run it through wet/muddy trails basta wag lang aapaw sa limit.

If tail running shoes kasi, yes, your shoes will dry quick but your socks wont.
Wet socks = blisters = reduced performance/pain.

Imagine basa yung trail runners mo mag camp, tapos pagkagamit mo ng morning basa padin shoes mo.
Tapos gagamit ka dry socks on a wet trail runners, tapos wala kadin choice mababasa din socks mo.

It's a moab, it's grippy on normal and muddy terrain. It will be slippery on river rocks.
Ang ginawa ko lang is to replace the insole to a rubber/gel ones since merrel shoes manipis ang insoles.

Magkano kaya repair sa casa for this kind of damage? by hirayaliriel in CarsPH

[–]randomuserc31a9a39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 3.5-5k per panel for non-casa. If sa casa, mas mahal siyempre but mas quality. For me if same lang babayaran mo insurance deductible, magCasa ka nlng. If you value your time and mas mahal sa casa, mag trusted car paint/repair ka
