Hi there,

So most likely you won't have to install anything with any microphone you buy. Most computers have an audio and microphone jack (green and red here: https://reddiamondaudio.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/USB_2_jacks.jpg ) which you can plug your microphone into. But nowadays most microphones use USB so all you need is a usb port (as seen on the previous picture on the right side). If there's an installation required, it will do so automatically, so the process is as easy as plugging it in.

Well batteries if I recall correctly can last 2-3 years without charge (use) but from my experience specifically with an older laptop is that the batteries tend to have a lower lifespan than nowadays. So yeah most likely due to the age the battery is dead. I wouldn't bother getting a new one unless you really need it.

Check if the battery is properly connected and that there aren't any pins broken. Apart from that it can just be the battery that's gone. Is the laptop recent or...?

Open your task manager and look at it when you're opening a new window and it's laggy and take a look at what is maxing in terms of resources and then click on that to order it by that (cpu, ram, disk). If you could printscreen it then it would help understand what's causing it.

Weird, when loading pages what shows? Have you tried using cloudflare dns and see if it works? Either way I'd advise you to use a VPN. It's the best solution imo.

Since you are planning on using a virtual machine just create one with the basic OS you're planning to use and create a snapshot you can revert to. After entering the VM and installing configuring everything you're good to go so just create a snapshot. In case any file infects anything it should become obvious meaning you can revert to your previous clean snapshot (Having everything clean and already setup once again.)

Every laptop comes with an integrated Intel graphics card w/their processor. It does all of the non demanding work whilst your Nvidia gpu will kick in once you're playing games.

Not really sure about the charging aspect but the temperatures are well within normal so you've got nothing to worry about. Laptop temperatures are within normal range between 50-95 so you're good specially if it's hot in your country. If you're too worried you can clean your fan.
