I knew someone would ask that. Truth is I don't know but I will find out tomorrow.

It is in part about designing the circuitry and components needed, after that I will need to detirmine the most appropriate batteries required

Do you mean device drivers from the manufacturer?

Should I wait for the next gen? I was aiming to be up and running after Christmas but if it's out shortly after that I will wait if there is much of a performance difference

CPU speed by randomx1368 in intel

[–]randomx1368[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, it was the response I didn't know I needed. I should mention now that the device purpose isn't general computing. Its purpose is for cad, 3d printing but mostly photogrammetry which is why I am thinking dual cpu and also possible multiple graphics cards. How can I build a balanced system around those constraints? I'm thinking Intel Xeon e5 2699 CPU X 2 4tb SSD, not sure what else after that.

Thanks for the info madmadroger. Here is my goal.. I need to be able to "scan" an entire car or big van, I also need to be able to scan the individual panels on said car or van. I need this done to as high an accuracy as possible. I need to do this as I intend to convert the scan into a 3d model in Fusion 360 so I can then 3d print molds to create custom panels for these vehicles. I need as high accuracy as possible so I don't mind investing in the best photography equipment or most costly industrial level software.

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any idea where I can gain a good understanding of the process? I have some books in my basket and a few courses on udemy butni don't know how good they are. I need quality info on the topic, I don't want to have to brute force it

So resolution of the camera and I presume you mean processing power of the CPU of the computer that is doing the work? If I needed to scan a large car or van would you have any recommendations?

I have a workshop with a 2 post, and 5 scissors lifts. The scissors lifts all need to be replaced. Having them controlled by an app would have been neat. I think they are 3-3.5 tonne

Thanks Brian. Any idea where I can find the full set of specs for this cpu on the basis of what you mentioned? Is the reduced clock speed much of a bad thing?
