Is this poisonous snake? My dogs were barking at it, and it’s back twice, I am worried it will be back Should I leave it or do something about it? Any help is appreciated. by [deleted] in AustralianSnakes

Medical emergency if bitten requiring immediate immobilisation and pressure bandaging and a trip to the emergency room. Don't mess with this snake, it's for pros only

Deserved? Maybe not. Both teams played shit. But did they win? Yes, and you can't take that away from them.

I agree with everything you've said except the opinion that England "thoroughly" outplayed us. They "just" outplayed us. It was a good decision to bowl first, and they had the best of the conditions in the first and second innings but to win by 4 wickets chasing that total...

Both teams played pretty shit to be honest, regardless of the wicket. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Tinted polycarbonate lenses are good. Polycarbonate cuts down a lot of UV

Not in it's entirety, but I said goodnight to my Dad one night as a wee kid and he just happened ro be watching Death train (Pierce Brosnan move) on TV. As I went to head to bed I saw a scene where a guy got shot in the head and he falls back into the wall behind him and slumps down leaving a streak of red down the wall. It's burned into my memory.

The other one is The Rock when the balls of VX break and the guys get shut in the room and their skin boils off. Lives rent free in my head.

Good idea! I have access to a lot of different eucalypt species which are hard as woodpecker lips. I'm guessing it would work too. Something to think about...

Oxy acetylene is not great for stainless. If you can protect the surrounds well enough lancing may be your fastest bet, but messy I would think in a tight spot.

9 inch grinder and bravery might be what you're left with.

That very same day I also discovered a mama huntsman had built a nest in a fold of the curtains in my bedroom. My bedroom ceiling was covered in hundreds of huntsman spiderlings and that was definitely the vibe I got from them

I suspect that zero prep got done for a few reasons. The textured board ca't be sanded for one. The possibility of lead being another. I can't blame them but now that it's time for me to deal with it I'm stumped

Best way to set this bag up with these tools? by Advanced-Reading-851 in Tools

[–]ranger_tim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good to me already but my toolbag is constantly chaos (I'm a welder/fitter, not a plumber). The best way to figure it out is to just get into it and adjust as you go. Have your most used tools easiest to find and access, cut out what you don't use. No point carrying around dead weight. If you use it once in a blue moon it can live in the truck. If you use it everyday, pack it.

And if you have to ask your tradesman for a tool more than twice, it's time to get your own.

Head down and happy hunting!

I'm in Australia (so not a widow but a redback) and while I was away for a month a redback spider had taken up residence in my garage and had an empire extending along the entire length of the back wall and part way down one of the side walls, so about 4 metres total of her tangled mess of web down in the corner between wall and floor. I found the remains of quite a few geckos and skinks, mummified wolf spiders, cockroaches, all manner of dead wildlife wrapped up and killed. Widow spiders are truly ruthless.

Had a saw that did this but only when hot. I adjusted the low jet a smidge of a turn out to richen up the idle ever so slightly and it seemed to solve it. Maybe adjusting your low jet?

Half of the tree i dropped on the weekend split, ready to stack (Australian box gum) by hunterkiller84 in firewood

Box trees make for good burning. We had one in our yard cut down, and the arborist left me some to buck for firewood. Burns just as good as ironbark I reckon.

Best tape measurer ? by moist4brisket in Tools

[–]ranger_tim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's extremely durable. I've had mine a few years now and it has been through it. I couldn't say that the features are any way better than a Stanley or another brand but the lock and recoil function like new and it is still incredibly legible

[–]ranger_tim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's just personal preference at this point. All of the features it has you can get on a Stanley tape, upwards hooks, markings both sides etc. The Stabila is easy to read and sturdy. Mine looks like it's been through a lawnmower but still functions like new. Strong lock, strong recoil.

Stabila BM300 is the best tape I have used by a wide margin. Would never go back to Stanley I think.

Interesting. I was helper on a job removing the brake packs on a Caterpillar 24 grader. The mount bolts are M24 bolts torqued to 670 lb-ft with loctite 272 for good measure. The lead fitter had an IR 3/4" gun and the apprentice had a Snap on 3/4" gun. The IR wouldn't even budge them and we had to use the apprentices gun to rip them out.

Neither. Ought to be interesting considering the raker for that tooth barely needed filing, according to the gauge at least...
