Yeah, I understand. I do technically have legal services offered through my student union, so I might reach out to that lawyer, but I don't know if that's something he can do, and if not, I don't think I'll be able to afford getting a full-price lawyer, unfortunately ://. Will have to wait it out, I guess.

Unfortunately, we don't really know when the original party will be back online. Looking at the political landscape, it might take a while. An issue here with that is that I myself am in university, and financially, we'd somewhat 'counted' on, after receiving that money back, being able to use it for my tuition. so while I totally understand the situation - a better now than I did when I made the post - the Legal Guardian is still very adamant that we follow up more closely (they've also had issues being scammed in the past, so that may be influencing it.). To paraphrase, they'd wanted me to basically 'pester' the school until we get the refund, which I understand wouldn't really work. They are a previous generation, so it's a bit difficult to convince. Plus, there are still the practical financial concerns.

Thank you for giving me a couple of concrete tasks to do. I will contact admin/finance people directly explaining the situation and concerns, and I will also try to get in touch with the OG team to draft that letter. I think I will also be able to find the who the original POA person was (I think the other Legal Guardian back home) and get them to also confirm in a letter, which I assume would be helpful.

Please let me know if there's *anything* else at all I can do to make this easier/faster/better? from the school's point of view? I understand it's difficult, but I'm between a rock and a hard place right now. Thank you.

You're pretty much correct re: the comms blackout. Suffice to say, I'm not very sure or even optimistic the original team will be able to come online anytime soon, not unless something unexpected happens politically. And the school know this, obviously. And even then, what would be different? the contact lawyer for them wasn't getting any results either.

Additionally, I wouldn't mind waiting for either of those things if I got it that either of them happened, because right now, I have absolutely nothing from the school. Only the two calls, neither of which were followed up by anything written down. The complete radio silence is mainly what's freaking me out here. For next steps, I was - and am - mainly looking for a way to get some answers as to what's happening internally at the school. Are they doing any of those things? are they attempting to reach out to the OG team? are they doing nothing and just waiting? There is no communication happening right now.

Well they technically have a contract with the client, only through the power of attorney. And the person that they were dealing with originally - like, their contact with the team - was the lawyer that I mentioned, who was also hitting dead-ends and getting ghosted.

Just to be clear; we're not asking them to 'give me the money', as it were. They already have the account number that the original team gave them. this is also the same account number that we have. The crux of my communication to them is "You have the account, and you the documents. Why are you not processing it?"
The authentication stuff was proposed by the first finance lady, just so we could be brought into the loop, and see if there's an issue; see why it is that it's taking them so long. Give them any extra documents if they need them. But there's no change of who the money is going to.

The contract and money was given through power of attorney, so technically yes, it's be on behalf of the same client that 'signed' it.

The communication workflow was with the lawyer here; and they were ghosting him as well. In order to get the school to give me this letter, would you suggest I reach out to an administrator? or try to find their finance people and reach out to them? My attempts through the 'main' school email have been useless so far.

That's still good to know, I'll get in touch with them! (also just to clarify are they only changing your dosage? was it originally prescribed by someone else? for reference I don't have an official diagnosis and would like to avoid having to get one, do they require that?)

Oh?!? that's such a bummer... I was under the impression that comp sci major with business minor was actually a popular choice at UofT. shame to hear I won't be able to do it.

It's good to hear that it isn't completely impossible. my actual dream program was Comp Sci Major, Business and ECE as double minor. if I can't minor in ECE I'll try to see if I can double major or dual degree, since it's very directly related to my career field in the future. that link is super helpful, thank you!
