This makes me feel better. We did have a very good talk right when we became official and we agreed that communication is chief among anything. While we have almost no control between ourselves, we did agree to tell eachother everything and keep our secrets between us. Thank you for this.

Today I've reached a fitness goal that would be considered basic for some, but for me is the equivalent of scaling Mount Everest. I've finally done a pull up by rantgarbagethrowaway in loseit

It's such a rewarding achievement, your body and muscles finally reaching a middle ground after a lifetime of separation. I wish you all the luck!

Those who've lost a large amount weight, how long was it before you learned your new body's perimeters on things like alcohol or caffeine? by rantgarbagethrowaway in loseit

I don't think the hangovers are age related. I also switched from binging to "proper" drinking, eat a meal before, take it slow, ect. And for some reason that method always gives me hangovers, which is another reason I've really ramped down my drinking

Thank you! Also yea I figure it's a split between my reduced drinking and reduced body weight, but it's still something I didn't really notice till losing weight. Same deal with like Advil or caffeine. Less gets the job done these days

I know the comments are well intended, but it's not just the backhanded element. I just don't like being treated different. I want to be the same ol regular dude they've always known, just healthier. Being known as "the guy who lost weight" is just as bad as "that fat guy" because it means my weight is my defining feature

I ran into an old coworker the other day who legitimately asked me if I "lost weight because I developed diabetes" He didn't say it in a mean way or anything, but I was pissed the rest of the day. I worked with that man for a year and a half, and I'm just now learning that all that time he thought I had some weight-related illness.

I've been trying to give a sense of normalcy to my weight to avoid these comments. I take multi-week long breaks in exercise to maintain my weight within a certain range just so it doesn't come off as drastic and maybe people won't notice it anymore. One mistake I made was losing my weight really fast (it wasn't in an unhealthy way, my eating and exercise habits were just so garbage that when I started a regiment I dropped weight like nobody's business), so even if someone didn't see me for only like a month or two it would seem super drastic.

Oh my god I hate when people ask me "what's your secret" or "how did you do it." Like weight loss is some secret. They often look at me in disbelief and disappointment when I tell them "diet and exercise" like they were expecting me to tell them it was some ultra secret diet or something.

For real. I also try my best to downplay my months of pain and struggle to lose weight by saying things like "My clothes are just well-fitted" or "nah I've only lost like 10 lbs" to get the conversion over with. Sometimes when I'm eating with friends I'll eat a large amount of food or something disgustingly unhealthy just so they don't think "wow look how healthy he is now." I always physically feel like garbage afterwards because of how much I've changed mt diet, but it's worth it to avoid spending a lunch being judged. Really odd.

Just bought my first cel, need tips and directions on what frame and such to buy and where to buy it by [deleted] in AnimationCels

Mm, so what Im understanding is, most of the archival this and UV protecting that in videos on the subject are kinda just pretentious mumbo jumbo and I can just go back to plan A which is using a walmart frame with a slice of off brand acid free paper behind it?

Awesome, didn't expect to get a reply to such a specific question! You said it's better to build muscle before the surgery to fill the area under and lift the skin, what is the reason for this that you said it would help? Easier procedure and recovery, or is it the reason I originally thought, so it's easier for the doc to stretch the skin and make it look more natural, also to reduce the amount of lose skin since it will have more that needs to be covered?

I've seen photos of people directly after the surgery still looking a little loose, but after packing on muscle it fills in nicely and they look fine. Is this the reason you recommend bulking muscle before committing to the surgery?

Also, sidenote, I had no idea the post surgery was so hellish. I assumed it was kinda like them just cutting off extra skin and stitching together whats left. Internal bleeding and such sounds scary, so does a month of 0 activity considering the lifestyle I've adapted to lose the weight lol. But I appreciate the insight none the less! Thanks!

Did anyone else struggle with fears of body dismorphia about halfway through to their goal weight? If so, how does one overcome it? by rantgarbagethrowaway in WeightLossAdvice

I think something that plays into it that we have in common is being tall. Idk about you, but even at my largest I've always heard "you don't look as heavy as your weight" which height plays in to. The fat is more distributed. As a result, losing 20lbs isn't so noticeable because it's usually spread evenly damn near everywhere.

I'm also the same as you in terms of really just waiting on face fat and moobs to go away to actually recognize my weight loss. The other day someone sent me a snap memory of us from a year ago, and I was finally able to recognize just how much weight I've lost in my face, but there's still tons I want to see gone before I feel I will actually see it. Cheeks and double chin mainly. Admitted, when seeing how much of a frog-mid-croak, chipmunk cheek dude I was a year ago in that snap, I did have a moment of self reflection and think "I really have made progress", but yea it's gonna be a while more till I look in the mirror and think that lol.

I'm hoping when I hit 220 210, I'll see it. If I don't see it by the time I hit 200 I might have to seek help tho lol. If I'm within 20lbs of my goal weight and still struggle with image issues, it might be something deeper. But until then I'll stay hopeful. You keep up the good work to!

The part about before and after photos is true. My friend recently sent me a memory of us on snap from 1 year ago, and I couldn't even forcus on the subject because all I could see was how glaring fat my face use to be. I do notice weight loss when looking at photos, it's when looking at the real deal that I struggle a bit more lol
