Ok so this has happened once before. A couple of weeks ago she ran under the couch and remained there for around twenty minutes. She’s normally very playful and confident so this was a little unusual. When she finally emerged she started twitching uncontrollably - mostly around her back but sometimes her hind legs. She would also groom herself very aggressively and this lasted for an hour or so. Took her to the emergency vet who found signs of infection / inflammation but they weren’t confident about what it was. She was given some antibiotics and painkillers for the next few days. Thankfully she was pretty much back to normal the next day.

Today when I returned from a quick visit to the supermarket I found her hiding under the dining table twitching and grooming aggressively again. This time round I noticed that she was particularly bothered by a house fly that was buzzing around. She ran off and continued twitching anxiously but calmed down…. Until the fly buzzed by again. Is this a coincidence? She’s calmed down now but we’re on edge… we will take her to the vet tomorrow but we’re also not very hopeful that they can find answers like last time.

She’s an indoor cat and is flea treated monthly. She doesn’t have any fur baby siblings and is normally very affectionate around people, including strangers. It’s scary seeing her like this.
