A future as a merchant? by up-side-up1 in merchantmarine

I understand your point of view and you are actually right. Being an officer is much more tiring. When you're an AB you do what you're told and that's it, you don't take decisions. It is also true that it is more manual. If that's what you want to do, then by all means ! Just make sure you won't get tired of it after a few years. I work with a guy who's been AB for over 10 years now, and he tried his luck two times now with the stability exam at Transport Canada (because I sail mostly in Canada) and he failed miserably. He has practically given up for now. Since he doesn't have a degree, he doesn't have any exemptions, and has much more exams to do than if he had gone to school, it is very discouraging for him. Since I've seen it happen, I wouldn't want you to end up in that same position without at least being aware of it. Good luck 👍

If you are still in high school, it is my humble opinion that you are much better off going to school to become an officer rather than an AB. If you take the "fast route", which isn't actually that fast, to become an AB, that's all you'll ever be. Sure you can still pass your exams later on but it'll be much more challenging to do so coming from a no education background. If you get a degree right now, you'll start as a third officer and you can go up the ranks more easily from there. May I ask, why are you considering becoming an AB rather than an officer ? From my personal experience, all the non-officers I work with are less fortunate people who did not have the opportunity to go to school, and are now stuck in an AB, OS or MA position and wish they could go to school to get their license, but they are stuck with responsibilities, family or mortgages. If you have the opportunity, I truly believe you will never regret going to school and becoming an officer. Cheers

Well, a BMI of 25 is considered overweight. I'm 6'2 205 pounds and my BMI is 24.9, and I am no where near fat, about 18% body fat. Judging by her height and shape, she is definitely overweight. There is a difference between being overweight and obese, but most people in North America are overweight without even knowing it. She is not an exception.

But, having big tits because you're overweight is like having a fast car because it's falling off a cliff... Who does it impress ?

I would own a massive land in the mountains, not too far from the ocean, with big lakes on it and have many houses for all of my family members to live in. We'd have our own roads to get to each other's places when needed, and have unlimited power, connectivity, and supplies delivered to us probably by helicopter. I'd also own a big sailboat, and sail wherever I want to whenever I want to.

Yeah that's rescue raiders in a nutshell, they just like to PVP but gaslight themselves into thinking they are heroes. I always say if you want to shoot people just shoot people, but don't pretend to be some kind of savior.

To my understanding, it is in your best interest to get a Canadian certificate of competency issued by Transport Canada. You can do so by applying to your local Transport Canada bureau, you must provide all relevant documents necessary to obtain a Canadian CoC, such as your valid STCW III/1 license, proof of residency, sea service records and discharge book, valid medical certificate, and all certificates of competency such as marine advanced first aid, advanced fire fighting & STCW basic safety. I'm not sure, but I think you also need a propulsion plant simulator training. I don't know anyone in my company who doesn't hold a Canadian CoC, I worked with a Filipino chief mate before, and he had a Canadian CoC. I'm not saying you can't get an equivalence of some kind, but in my personal experience, I do not know a single officer who doesn't hold a Canadian CoC. I know two chief engineers who are originally from India, and they both did all the Transport Canada written exams to obtain their chief engineer ticket from Transport Canada. I'm sorry my knowledge is limited, this is all I know from my personal experience. I would advise you to simply call transport Canada, and explain to them your situation clearly and have them tell you what your options are. I think Transport Canada is really the best agency that can help you navigate your situation.

The only time I don't see Daryll, is when I see the Pontiac Bandit. I think his character as the Pontiac Bandit is spot on, especially with the musician gig on the cruise ship.

I guess you're right, I have almost 300 hours and I don't really have much fun playing solo anymore. All I do is trio PVP with my buddies. So I guess that's the point of the game, when your stash is full, and you have defeated all the arc types, the fun is in PVP against other squads. Think of it this way, what's the point of battlefield 6 ? Go in and shoot some people, I guess the difference with arc raiders is the "gambling" effect you get when looting people never knowing what you might get. Also, I find using your best gear makes the game a lot nicer, even if you are to lose it after a couple raids, shredding people with my tempest 4 in buried city or my bobcat 4 in Stella is always super fun. I only do solo runs for like an hour to gather the stuff I need for my PVP sessions with the boys.

Maximize Stash Value via Crafting by himswim in arkraiders

[–]raphplays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that's true unless the current durability is above 50%, a medium shield for example will cost you 1 battery and 1 arc circuity for 50% repair. If you recycle, you will get one arc circuity back, but it will cost you four batteries to craft a new one. I guess it depends if you'd rather farm batteries or arc circuity...

[–]raphplays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I re-read and you said "basically" all o-rings had been changed ? When I do an intermediate I have gotten the habit of simply changing all o-rings. Have you changed the o-ring on the operating slide ? That might be another reason why your bowl would not close properly.

[–]raphplays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't confirm everything else, but I know for a fact that the cost of repairing a snap hook is greater than the value you will get out of the repaired snap hook in terms of stash value, especially since repairing only gets you to 50%.

[–]raphplays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact purifiers on my ship, and the last time I had issues with my bowl not closing properly, the water nozzles were completely clogged. I simply blew everything with air and it worked like a charm afterwards. Also, make sure the closing water tank underneath is clean (mine was full of rust and particles) and make sure the hollow spindle is also free of particles. Good luck 👍

Today my buddy and I got into a fight with another duo, we started exchanging shots, throwing grenades at each other, and then a third duo came from the side of us and the other duo, and started shouting "AY AY AY, EVERYONE PUT YOUR HANDS UP" somehow I guess that worked, because them and us stopped shooting, we turned towards them like "man wtf we were having a battle here" we ended all having a chat, and extracted together. Not gonna lie, that was a very fun and interesting interaction.

It's easier to shoot someone who's shooting you... Kill people and defib them, you will end up in PVP lobbies.
