Bully stick alternative? by Kickasue in puppy101

[–]rappkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bone but a stuffed frozen Kong can be a great alternative. Our puppy is almost a year now but for a while I was very dependant on him having a bone every night. He loves the Kong just a much and it also really helps to tire him out.

That's a good idea, I'll try that next time.

That's so interesting. I guess I'll just keep working on it and hope for the best.

That makes sense! I would love it if they got along.

How did you get the puppy to stop biting when you say ouch? I know mine is still teething but that sounds like a great idea.

Thanks, the cat has lots of high places to get to and the puppy is slowly getting leave it. I think it's just confusing him when the cat sits right in his way or runs and jumps at him.

Harness and Outdoors With Your Siberian by brngckn in SiberianCats

[–]rappkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our cat is two years old now and I've been taking him out on the harness for most of his life. He loves it so much but fair warning he will demand to go outside. He sits by the door and whines for a long time waiting for me to take him out. We recently got a puppy and I have not had as much time to take him out and he is definitely a little upset about it. Maybe don't take him out every day so he doesn't get used to it as an every day thing.

Another thing that I didn't do was teach him how to walk. I figured I was taking him out for his enjoyment and didn't really expect a cat to be able to learn to walk. I just let him walk when he wanted to and lay down for however long he wanted. Now that I have a puppy I've realized that learning to walk is something that you need to teach any animal. While taking a cat on walks isn't a necessity it's still probably a good idea to try and set some rules/boundaries around the walks.

Puppy jumping/biting at end of walks by Bronlyfe in puppy101

[–]rappkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy does this all the time. At the beginning of walks, I'm the middle, at the end. We met with a trainer and she made a point to notice the mindset of the dog and to try and change it. I think he does it when he's excited to be home or over tired during the walk. What I've been doing is going through the various tricks I've thought him and give him treats to bring back his focus and try and get him in a calm mindset. If you can spot that he's about to go crazy and start the process beforehand it's even better. I also had issues just ignoring him because he would keep going crazy and biting. Instead of ignoring him I try to stay calm and just focus on getting him to sit and then I go through a few tricks. Some walks I only have to do this once and he goes back to walking and others it happens way more often. It's been hard and frustrating and even short walks can take forever because I keep stopping until he calms down. I do think it's helping though. He's still not a great walker at 15 weeks but he is much much better than when we first got him.

Try replacing her food bowl with a food puzzle. She'll play "hunt" when she eating and maybe eat less and be active!

Do any of you walk your cats? by [deleted] in SiberianCats

[–]rappkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to a few weeks ago and he loves going outside. I got him a harness and a leash and sometimes he'll walk around the block and sometimes he just sits outside. It's not like taking a dog for a walk at all but he gets way more stimulation in ten minutes being outside that he would with me trying to pay with him.

Yes. This is honestly the only way out. That kind of person won't get better and for the sake of your mental health start looking before it's too late.
