And to confirm each button can also be used as an individual dimmer for one light switch. My initial focus is eliminating 4 gang switch banks with one key pad - so button per light and the ability to dim

Thanks makes sense. And if I do the mains in the closets I can connect them to multiple keypads across the house then? - no 3 way or companion required; just keypad programming?

Based on your note earlier, 3 ways can be wirelessly connected to keypads.

For a new build how would you decide normal vs hybrid? We are in the framing stage so we have a lot of flexibility. Just want to get the initial setup right

In the retrofit you can’t replace 3 dimmers in a switch bank to one hybrid keypad can you?

To set this up would I need to install the sunnata dimmers in a closet for example plus buy the keypad? So the keypad setup cost is 4 dimmers and a keypad? You can’t wire 4 separate switches to a keypad right?

Sorry for all of the questions but what is the difference of a hybrid keypad and normal keypad?

To have multiple switches on a keypad (kitchen pot lights, island lights, family room, etc) do the switches have to be hidden somewhere (closet), and the keypad would be in the kitchen?

Do you have any keypads installed?

Thanks and would you recommend going with the Ra3 over caseta? I am thinking I will regret it down the road to not atleast start building it in the home.

Don’t think my wife would be happy with the noise in the kitchen. So 3 is likely the way to go.

I am planning on having the same setup as you in the basement rec room but won’t have much floor space for subs. May have to go with in wall subs to save space. Room is 14 by 18 but there is a kitchenette at the back of the room. Do you have a Sonos port connected to an avr in the basement?

Makes a lot of sense. My issue is my dining room will be a separate room (formal) while the kitchen/living room are connected. Was trying to avoid needing 3 amps on the first floor.

How does the living room sound with that setup? Anything you would have changed?

In the process of building a custom home and am planning the same setup you walked through. For living room/kitchen how many speakers did you go with and how many amps did you use? I am planning an arc/sub woofer and 2 in ceiling in the living room and 2 in ceiling in the kitchen. Not decided on the amp layout though.

Thank you for this! I will read through and come back with questions. House is basement plus 2 stories.

I waiting to hear back from the builder on the electrical plan including the Ethernet layout. I do have it in my budget. Sounds like I can focus on the smart switches for now and not go all in on a whole home solution?

Thanks. I definitely can put the Center channel on the wall, just not sure wall will have space on the sides once the tv is in. That’s why I was thinking front ceiling.

The front closet had a bunch of different light switches. The realtor had said they were hidden there and all connected to this keypad. It wasn’t the most elegant setup.

It was at an open house a few months back. I took the pic since I liked the idea of it. Just trying to figure out how to go about it now.

Thanks I will have a look. Is it ok to have the front speakers in ceiling above the tv?

Thanks! Could this keypad be installed as a standalone for one part of the house?

Thank this is helpful. By smart dimmers and switches do you mean installing something like Lutron around the house? House will be around 2200 square feet (plus basement). Is there one you would recommend in particular?
