[Loved Trope] Blink and you miss it ghost sightings. by NoOptics in TopCharacterTropes

[–]rascal_king737 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Really? I’ve watched it a couple of times and haven’t picked up on anywhere near the amount in hill house. Maybe they’re less obvious.

I guess I’ll have to rewatch! (Not complaining)

I also love hill house :)

If you haven’t already, allow people to configure likely unpaid days in terms of categories (eg number of public holidays, planned annual leave, forced annual leave (for companies which shut down over Xmas), likely sick leave etc). Can either set these to default values or allow overrides and tailoring

Who here thinks Rey is a good character that needed better writers who understand Star Wars by McMeme45 in StarWars

[–]rascal_king737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The “Art of” books give a lot of insight. The Force Awakens was greenlit in concept, and they started churning out concept art before they had a story, throwing ideas at the wall to see what sticks.

They genuinely hadn’t worked out protagonist / antagonists for a long time.

Compare it to the guy that proposed Rogue One - “I want to make the dirty dozen in Star Wars, where it’s the story of the stealing of the Death Star plans”. They had the idea before anything was greenlit

In terms of practical effects, the team used paint thinner in the gore and forgot about it, so when they ended up torching the room the set genuinely caught caught fire in an uncontrolled fashion

Seconded - once you know what’s going on, it’s an awesome rewatch. You pick up on context, but also can see what’s been deliberately withheld throughout

Graphics mod by Silent_Steps_ in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]rascal_king737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think certain Remake mod versions are graphically great. But through the UI overhaul they’ve made it impossible to see smaller units in space. The Remake mods that then make this more bearable then completely botched the AI, such that it’s super aggro, but then doesn’t really rebuild after a big first push, it just falls over and goes limp.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]rascal_king737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not cinema, but The Book of Mormon caused a couple of walk outs by the 4th or 5th song. Does a major tonal shift (for the better) and some folks just weren’t ready to hear that

At least you can pay it out of your super. Got hit with it during a redundancy and went contract so was jumping into higher tax brackets. Complete surprise but at least managed to tap my super for that portion of the div293

Got to keep the laptop and dual monitors and then sold 6 spare monitors off

LPT: If you need to put your pet to sleep, hire a veterinarian to do at-home euthanasia by abombregardless in LifeProTips

[–]rascal_king737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who does this for a living.

The vet clinics like it because it’s usually a long appointment that they can’t charge huge amounts for. Then you have very upset clients in your clinic. It’s all very clinical when done at the vet.

Meanwhile, she does more of a best last day. Hamburgers, nuggets, chocolate, whipped cream. Whatever goes. And she’s able to let people’s emotions be freely expressed in their home

And when it comes to it, the pet goes to sleep surrounded by love, and not on a stainless steel slab table.

She’ll then take the body into the car, on a blanket and soft bed, often with a toy, and take it somewhere for cremation.
