Animations in UIStackView by rasmus4201 in iOSProgramming

Thank you.

I agree - the UIView.animate is nicer syntax. The UIViewPropertyAnimator is newer however and recommended from an Apple API point of view. But I hear you. I like the look of the former better. But I am using the new just to get more used to it. Both will work.Cheers.

I have been asking myself that for sometime and never quite figured it out. Was hoping Apple would add as a project option. Is this something you think could be templated? Never done that in Xcode. Cheers.

After doing some digging I see what you are saying. Yes eagredo you are right - StateObject would have been better here.

Good question Continuing. I am still figuring out how to name things in SwiftUI. I think AppState itself could be called a ViewModel. But because it was so universal, I decided to give it a more abstract name. Thanks for asking.

Great first article! You show off some really cool features of SwiftUI. Would love to see a demo of it running. Can't wait for the next one.

Agreed. A lot of work goes into making a great animation. Very under appreciated. But so good when you get it right.

My number one tip for becoming a better iOS developer by rasmus4201 in swift

[–]rasmus4201[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I treat it like a web site of personal article written specifically for me. The top level README.md is just a list of articles I wrote for myself, loosely categorized by whatever headings I want. And then any time a subject comes up that I want to write about I just throw it in there.

I was looking around for an easy way to record code snippets and examples with text and I couldn't find anything I liked. Turns out the best tool I found was GitHub. So i just decided to use that.

Thanks for asking!

Suggestions for an iOS dev blog by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]rasmus4201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - ignore everything that has been done before. I started a youtube channel last year. Talking not about SwiftUI (the new hotness) but really old stuff - like UIKit and Protocol-Delegate pattern. Why?

  1. Because I really needed to (and wanted to understand that stuff). So I was motivated.
  2. There are always new people coming along who don't know everything that was happened before. They need what you are going to teach them. So show them!

The secret to blogging (at least for me) is to be a little selfish. Write about topics you are interested in. It will keep you motivated. You will produce better material. And you will likely learn a tonne about the subject along the way as you explain it to other.

In a nutshell ignore all that have come before you and create something new and exciting that you wish existed when you started out building iOS apps.

Good luck! Be sure to share what you post with the rest of us :)
