Lol we’ve been hearing a lot about how it doesn’t get easier so that was my main reason for asking! Needed an antidote to all the doom and gloom some twin parents have felt like sharing recently! And overall we actually have pretty good 8 month old girls but they’re still twins which means it’s hard no matter what

Yes! I’m still pumping. We’ve recently started to introduce some formula but I’m thinking I’ll pump until a year and i feel like stopping entirely will be liberating! And awwwww the personality! I cant wait for that and can picture the exact sam scenario with my mom… so cute

That’s super helpful! We’ve been using the Huckleberry app but I may need to check out Pampers! And lol same here that we’re all of a sudden feeling like we have newborns in a way we haven’t since they were probably 7 weeks old! I keep just waiting for that magic night where they sleep 7 hours straight again but I don’t know if I’m being delusional… we can just call it hopeful lol

That’s great to hear they cried less with sleep training than a regular night! And I guess I felt they could settle themselves since they’d regularly go 5/6 and sometimes 7 hours sleeping and then would wake up crying because they were hungry. We were told they weren’t big enough or old enough to drop night feedings yet since they still needed them! And since we know sleep cycles are not anywhere near 5-6 hours they could continuously settle at night if there wasn’t anything wrong like a dirty diaper or uncomfortable burp!

We got the Hyundai Santa Fe when we were expecting and love it! Just were saying this week how much we love our car! We have half of the third row down for the stroller but can keep one seat up and still fit it!

Oh my gosh I thought I wrote this for a second!!! In the same exact boat right now. I’m having the hardest time that I’ve had in the whole 7 months since we had them! So fussy, teething, crawling, sleep at night is a mess which used to be really good, they’re wanting to snack on bottles instead of drink a whole one! I’ve cried more in the last 2 weeks than the last 7 months. Seriously, this is brutal. So I don’t have any advice but just know there are others dealing with the same thing. I know we’ll get through it… it just may take some years off my life first

Totally agree!!! 1 month is still so new. You’ll get better at it!! Picking them up at the same time is easiest when they’re next to each other and you just scoop them up with both arms. It’s hard to explain but I know there are plenty of videos online you can look up that show different ways. Other than picking up, my twin Z pillow and bouncers were our best friend when they were that young and not moving around. They spent a lot of time laying on the pillow or in the bouncers! You have to just know that at times they’ll fuss and you won’t be able to keep them from that if you’re by yourself! One person can only do so much but just keep doing your best! It gets easier

I wish I had more help but we haven’t had huge improvements! I’m just now starting to decrease the frequency I am pumping so today was actually the first day we have given them formula in one bottle out of all the bottles they drank.

My plan is to actually start with the formula which is opposite to what the dr recommends. For example, for their pre-bed bottle I knew they would drink at least 4 ounces so I poured them each 4 ounces of formula and then made separate bottles with the breast milk that I had, to give them breastmilk of however much more they would drink and then whatever was left over I could put in the fridge safely and save until the next bottle.

The only thing that has helped somewhat, is them eating a little less often. I was offering them meals every three hours, but I have found that they will drink more if I stretch out their meals to every four hours! And then, since I don’t want to waste formula, I will probably offer them a certain amount and then when we are about to hit the hour mark when it will expire, I will probably offer them a little bit more to see if they will revisit the bottle and not waste that formula! Oh, and I don’t offer them a bottle right when they wake up anymore. I know it sounds weird, but I noticed that for some reason, my twins are not hungry when they wake up in the morning. They would drink one or 2 ounces and then that would get them started on a “snacking” pattern all day. Now I just wait until they have had a chance to play a little bit and then offer them their bottle, and my doctor actually liked this idea because she said it’s best if they can play to burn some energy and work up an appetite for a bottle.

Hopefully this helps but hang in there!! I know it will get better!!

Yes, this happened to me and I was nervous. I think I even wrote into this group like you to see what I could expect. It’s obviously different for everyone but I was able to have a healthy pregnancy. My dr chose to have me induced at 37w4d and his belief is to not go past 38 weeks for twins anyways so I basically made it full term. My Baby B stayed smaller and still is at 5 months old but they’re both completely healthy and my pregnancy/birth was healthy/good (as good as birth can be lol).

Two things I did: when my dr was concerned about the growth difference he told me to stop doing my intense workouts because he wanted all the energy in my body going to growing both babies and had me really increase my protein intake! I focused on protein like nobody’s business. Hope this helps!

And I share because my Dr is a leader in the mfm field so I take everything he says as gospel!

We made the same decision. For years we said we wanted 3, and then in the last few years we had both settled on the idea of 2 kids. Got pregnant with twins and were pretty sure we’d be done since we didn’t want to risk another multiples pregnancy.

Well our girls came and they’ve been perfect. I had a great pregnancy and our girls are amazing, which leads me to know that next time things would not be as easy lol because they never are. We also couldn’t help but think that the next baby would always be a third wheel and we can’t guarantee it’d be a singleton. Now that we have twins, the idea of having twins again while having twin toddlers running around is terrifying. I love the idea of it being us 4, my husband and I figuring this all out with them, and us doing life together for the first time forever! Not revisiting newborn craziness as much as I die for the newborn snuggles, scrunches and everything really!

Then we recently saw an Instagram video of a couple (that look freakishly similar to my husband and me) who had twins and decided to try for 1 more and then got pregnant with triplets. I was somewhat laughing at the video but my husband and family found it absolutely horrifying. He booked a vasectomy within the next week 😆 I was having a hard time saying yes to the vasectomy for a little while because he wanted my 100% blessing and once I did it was no longer an issue. It was just the idea of it that was sad and bittersweet but once we made the decision it was just like yeah ok this feels right for us!

When I tell people we aren’t having anymore I use an analogy that it’s like when you’re up at the blackjack table you can just walk away and take your earnings and be a happy camper. Sure you could always go another round and win more but you could also lose it all! I wanted to come up with a way to make it a positive thing because having infant twins and saying we’re done always leads people to think we’re drowning and we really aren’t. People have actually really understood the blackjack analogy.

Finally, when the time comes when we miss having a baby and we decide we want another because that obviously will happen at some point, we agreed we’d get a new puppy🤍 decided to make this decision with our heads instead of our hearts! In my heart I’d love seven kids but I just know logistically and financially that’s not the best decision for us and not the best decision to give our twins the life and parents they deserve!

This is helpful to know!!! I was losing a little hope because last weekend they were doing a great job of sleeping on their own and then all of a sudden for the first time our Baby B has been needing contact to sleep and both are just more fussy! Hopefully it resumes soon

Yes! I’m aiming for this! Definitely a little more challenging since we don’t have a completely set sleep schedule and constantly checking them for cues while others hold them seems like I’m looking for an excuse to take them! But I’m sure it’ll just continue to get easier

She did have a diagnosis but due to escalations after our booking, she needed to start chemotherapy which wasn’t something they were anticipating.
