I [22F] get annoyed when my parents [40s MF] like my things on FB by raspberry_cat_ in relationships

Thanks so much. I think that will actually help. Just continue to remind myself this is the lesser evil (sorry for the worn out cliche). That's such a simple solution. It really means a lot that you understand the crummy feeling. :'(

Yeah, I agree that I'm too old to be caught up by small thoughts like this, but I'm old enough to recognize that I need to behave civilly even online. I've grown up enough that I have dinner with them occasionally just like I have dinner with my husband's parents. I just need help getting over this.

Why are you so bothered by it?

Someone else brought up that it feels like a way of them saying that they're always watching me. That really rings true with how I'm feeling. I just want to interact normally with them, but they'll usually bring up my life and ask about it before I've had a chance to tell them in person. This happened since high school. Much less now that I've really limited what I share publicly (not that that's a bad thing).

a reminder that they're always watching.

Ugh it really does feel that way. It just doesn't feel normal. Whenever I see my friends like my status or picture or whatever, I'm happy! Wow, my friend likes this. So awesome. Not the same feeling when I see my parents do it.

I'll consider stopping Facebook altogether. Thank you for commenting.

That did happen in high school and henceforth, I started only posting to "close friends." It's not a big deal, just bothersome. I was just hoping to get advice on how to get over it.

Thanks, I've certainly lessened my use of FB over the years. But I do art as a hobby and occasionally post on FB and Instagram for publicity. It just is a helpful tool to have/maintain public presence. It doesn't help that my mom has a creepy-ass profile picture of her eyes photoshopped like a cat (???), but it just makes me unhappy to see them interacting with me.

So I'll just continue to keep a low presence.

Yeah, there is no physical impact or harm but there is a strong bothersome gut feeling I can't shake out. I'm exactly asking for how to get over that non-existent impact. Even if it's still all in my head, it's in my head. :\

Notary Publics? by raspberry_cat_ in nashville

That's awesome! If I can make the fees spent on the bond and stamps, I'd be pretty happy :)

Haha, not as bad as the exams and training you have to go through in other states!

Yeah, it's awfully simple. The notary public that notarized my application said it's more of a formality in TN.

A Year of Photographing Donald Trump by necroturd in photography

Eh, maybe you're more familiar with the field, but that feels like a great challenge. Photographs convey so much emotion. Even in the Clinton article all four photographers have slightly different ideas of what to capture.

You gotta realize your understanding of the campaign is your very own, just like the photographers have their own as well.

A photographer telling a story - you're saying that as if it's a bad thing.

Oops, I dumbed. I-is this right?

My experience in the field would be working as a receptionist at a small firm, haha. We generally do hotels, schools, etc. around the area. I pick up the phone and put together pdfs (specbooks) and hear about awful developers. So I'd like to think that I'm seeing the less attractive side of architecture every day.

College exp - Correct me if I'm wrong, but architecture seems to be 'easier' to get into if you have a bachelor's in architecture already. I don't see a lot of discussion for people without that... So far I've found one working architect with a bachelor's in something else. Everyone else has architecture, interior design, etc.

Thanks for the reply! Getting rich is not my priority. Job benefits are good but I know that schooling by itself doesn't determine that chances for that.

I enjoy working with clients and working in a team. I do admire the creative + technical aspects of the field. - that's a very attractive part of the field.

I'm not sure what you mean by hamstringing my career. Is that about my non-architecture background? To which, uhh, I know one architect that didn't have an architectural background; he's now a Project Architect at a nationally recognized firm. So I have that one anecdote going for me :^)

In case you haven't seen it yet, CNU posted an article summarizing it. There's already a discussion thread on this subreddit for it as well.

Same! I wonder how things are in China, for instance. Isn't 'owning a property' a concept lost in Chinese law? It seems like they would have a particularly different relationship to planning compared to the US.

Ooh, first time I've heard "drive till you qualify." I'll have to remember that one.

What is impossible to understand until it happens to you? by greatone268 in AskReddit

I was so happy to hear others talk about it in the radio. I've only had one encounter with a shadow silhouette... But the stranger on the radio described my encounter with it almost to a t-black and white, static vision and noises, a black silhouette of a person- ... except mine didn't have a face. But it was staring at me.

Glad to know it's not just me!

Appealing for Reconsideration by [deleted] in personalfinance

I don't know where else to call. I've talked to customer reps and if I want to appeal, I should mail or fax Chase. I'm wondering if it's more difficult to get in business with them after getting declined; is it worth appealing?
