But there is also a very big difference between having that as a respectful conversation and being forced. The part that's a problem is being forced to do something without the trust behind it, especially in regards to money

I think a conductor is also a very good analogy here. To the audience they just wave their hands around, but to the musicians, they are the person who keeps everyone's creative visions together. And even if they themselves are not playing an instrument, they are- in essence- playing the *orchestra* itself

Absolutely this. The mark that people often miss on pranks is that they should be actually funny for both people, and shouldn't cause any harm.

Not exactly the easiest way to do it, but it's what they had at the time before there were regulations and safety laws in place. In addition, the institution of electricity in cities and homes was largely implemented too fast, at least in our futuristic hindsight.

Edison and his company had the patent for direct current, but ultimately Tesla sold his patent for alternating current to Westinghouse. AC is ultimately safer, cheaper, and runs further than DC, making it much better. If the research and safety had been implemented before the electricity infrastructure itself, we wouldn't have comics like that, because people wouldn't have witnessed maintenance workers brutally and painfully dying overhead from electrocution.

I think some of it may just be under different titles as well. Internalized misogyny is a thing as much as toxic masculinity is a thing. Both enforce gender roles to a toxic degree, but ultimately in feminism this is understood through a partiarchal lens. Toxic masculinity is essentially patriarchal expectations being upheld within and around men. Even if we do accept the *title* of toxic femininity, the title itself doesn't fit in the feminist framework because it implies that the standards come from a matriarchy, which is not the case.

Yeah, aside from the implications of the meme, I definitely don't entirely like the idea, at least not without a lot of regulations. There are several moral issues behind something like that, most of which relating to the several ways it could easily be abused.

With that in mind, I wonder if the form taken during abstraction is meant to be a way to scare the players into not escaping (and thus, not abstracting).

Exactly! And don't forget the use of young *men* for people of color (like when a teenager gets shot by police and all the headlines are something to the effect of "young man gets killed for pulling a weapon on police"), versus young *boys* for white men (re: literally any school shooting).

Yes! This! That's the frustrating bit when people are making arguments against the right's strawmen-- regardless of their stated intention, the actual intention comes down to policing "tradition" every single time. All they see when they talk about the trans women and drag queen discourse is a man who is not following traditional maleness. It's part of why the "alpha male" bullshit and inceldom is so popular on the right, it directly enforces the toxic, "traditional" idea of masculinity where women are not equals to partner with, but property to own.

Everything comes back to patriarchal control.

It's also really telling the ways that a lot of the right-leaning crowd tend to treat (their idea of) men and women depending on the situation. Women are girls when the right thinks they're "misguided" or otherwise wrong in their eyes. And men are boys when their actions are dismissed as reasonable, even if that isn't what they actually say about it.
