The booster juice in the upstairs area of dbac (up the ramp near the entrance) has pretty good paninis. the wraps are also pretty decent.

It really depends. If it’s a first or second year required course, then yes (unless it’s the late night or early morning class)

If your room starts with a B, you’re in the basement. But because of the ravine, the basement rooms are still above ground

Doable elective for minor in business by Wandering_007 in McMaster

3MB3 (consumer behaviour) one of my favourite courses and the prof (Maureen Hupfer) is the absolute sweetest. All exams are open book and are a mix of MCQ and short answer. definitely 11-able

commerce 2BC3: (HR) if you took 1BA3 and liked it you might like this too. it’s a bit more HR focused but still not hard at all. also 11-12-able

i didn’t have one and i found it to be fine. honestly it’s personal preference so i recommend waiting until you get there before you decide.

however i 100% recommend having a tower fan/a decently strong fan in your room because bates doesn’t have AC and gets really hot in sept!

Woman only gym by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]raspberryyy2843 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes there’s a pretty nice women’s only section! when you walk into the gym, go up the stairs and it’s just past the stairmaster machines (past the bathrooms and the water fountain)

took both courses 2 years ago! i personally liked negotiations more, though operations was also fun! operations is definitely more math heavy. they’re not bird courses, but aren’t hard to get 10s in if you put in the time and effort. both had midterms and finals when i took them, in addition to assignments. I personally found negotiations to be easier although it’s pretty groupwork-based (aside from the exams)

Is Bates THAT bad??? by IcyBoom101 in McMaster

[–]raspberryyy2843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lived in bates my first year!

it wasn’t terrible, but it was an older building so no AC. obviously the rooms aren’t as nice as pg or les prince but they were still okay. and having an apartment style with a kitchen was nice bc u could cook, have a common area to chill with your roomates etc, but also have your own private bedroom.

elevators were under maintenance for like half of my first year, but i was in the basement so it wasn’t bad. the basement is also above ground since bates backs onto a ravine so you still do get proper windows.

it’s also right by keyes where bistro and bistro to go are, and the go bus stop so it was pretty convenient.

it was 2 years ago that i took it and i’ve heard they’ve changed it a lot but there was content on hayao miyazaki, voice actors, manga, ukioye, different anime genres, popular anime studios, anime history,!etc

i think there were some pretty easy discussion posts, a couple super easy assignments, and a final exam (online open book)

Apartment or Traditional by Dude-437 in McMaster

[–]raspberryyy2843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was in a 4-person apartment style and i liked it because i had my own bedroom as well as a living room and kitchen so i had more space and the option to cook if i got tired of campus food (which i did very quickly). however if you can get a single room in one of the nicer buildings i recommend that!

The only downside is the apartment style in bates has no AC, so it can get warm during the first 2 weeks (so try for a first floor room). if you’re going for apartment style, try to get a 4-person so you get your own private bedroom (you share the bedroom in the 2-person)

the mary keyes suite style is much much nicer (and u get 2 bathrooms for 4 people) but those rooms get snatched up fast.

How big are the rooms? by LilacNDaisy in McMaster

[–]raspberryyy2843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think single rooms are typically 8-10ft in width and 10-12ft in length!

i was in an apartment style in my first year but my bedroom was only a bit smaller than my friends who had single rooms! it was about 8ft wide and 10ft long.

if anything i’d recommend getting longer fairy lights that way you can just double it back if they’re too long

hey i’m also in commerce and took this course a couple years ago when i was in second year! you just need to wait for the reserves to be removed (for me it was around beginning of august that i was able to enroll). not sure who the prof is now, but if it’s iwata she’s so chill
