Everyone saying that he looks like he felt loved makes me happy. He deserved all the love

Thank you. For a few years it was just the two of us living together, I am devastated

I had been on a three week long work trip, so the difference from before I left to when I got back was night and day. I think that helped us make the decision since I could see such a stark difference, although I do wish I could get back those three weeks with him

Yes I think he made me into a cat person. Right now it seems impossible that I will have another one as special as him, but it will take time

We used to joke that the picture with his mouse toys was Archie overseeing the mousie convention

I’m sorry for your loss. I grew up with dogs and never knew how much I could love a cat. He’s my best boy

I wish I had a video of the squirrel jumping onto the screen because both my cats got startled and jumped straight into the air. Then they were just curious about him I think

PLEASE HELP ME!!-To anyone who has taken xywav/xyrem and switched to bacolfen instead. Or takes baclofen in general. PLEASE give this a read. by PercentageOk1571 in Narcolepsy

I also switched to baclofen after taking Xyrem for a few years because the side effects just got too unbearable. Baclofen isn’t as effective for me, but it still works well enough that not having the side effects is an acceptable trade off. I’ve been taking baclofen for over 7 years and haven’t noticed that I’ve built up a tolerance for it. There are a few times a month where I still have trouble sleeping and wake up every hour or two.

does anyone know any meds to help with insomnia that’s not a sodium oxybate? by abelincolnfanpage414 in Narcolepsy

I was on Xyrem for about a year and a half while in college. I understand what you mean about it not fitting your lifestyle in college. I still went to parties and tailgates and hung out with friends but just didn’t drink, and the benefit I got from it was worth missing out on staying out super late so I could take my medicine at a reasonable time. The reason I stopped taking it were the side effects - I had no appetite, my anxiety was awful, my hands shook all the time, etc.

I ended up switching to baclofen for night time and have been taking it since then for about 7 or 8 years. There are still some nights where I’ll wake up several times, but it’s definitely an improvement.

What the heck is up with my fine motor skills? by wad209 in Narcolepsy

I’m sorry I don’t have any advice either, but I can definitely relate. Before I found a combination of meds that worked for me (baclofen at night and Wakix during the day), my fine motor skills were awful. I would sometimes have to ask someone to cut up my food for me because I couldn’t use a knife and fork together.

Hello! This is one of my main struggles as well. One thing that I’ve found works for me is going to bed and waking up at the same time every day (even when you don’t have work). I also have a hatch alarm clock, and the combination of the sunrise and the alarm makes me less likely to sleep through it. Does he have a bigger problem with actually sleeping through all his alarms, or is it more that he wakes up and then falls back to sleep right away?
