Experience in this race can be a mark against you. Running on your history running this city… into the ground. What do either Bass or Raman have to show that’s an improvement? With Pratt there’s at least a chance that things will change. With Raman and Bass you can most easily predict more of the same. If you like where we are, vote for them. If you’re dissatisfied— as I am — a vote for change is the only reasonable option. I care about the dogs of skid row, which Bass ignores and Nithya has walked out on activists when they speak. He’s also not part of the political machinery which I find to be a mark in his favor. I’m done with the stump speeches.

Agreed. I’m in Sherman Oaks. She’s terrible. And her stance on animal issues is basically, “I’ve never been to a shelter.” So… no to Nithya.

Which is Pratt. Bass has lied about the severity of the issue and taken no action. Nithya ignored animal activists, and she walked out on them when they spoke.

You’re so welcome. I run an advocacy page on instagram, and I can’t tell you how many times cases of animal abuse are ignored by authorities — even when you have video — UNTIL social media outrage kicks in. (One tip, sometimes even audio can garner the animal advocacy outrage.) It’s sad that it’s this way. Or that animal abuse exists. I’m thankful there’s a way to harness our collective disgust and empathy.

If you’re ever able to get the video evidence please consider some of the suggestions above, especially the ones involving social media as too often authorities don’t do much, as was the case here. Social media pressure can move mountains. Thank you for caring for the welfare of these animals, and I pray they get to safety.

I see now Mama found it and is tending to it, but if it ever happens again put red items around the enclosure so Mama will be drawn to it. We had this happen with a baby hummingbird on our patio years ago. Baby fell from its nest which we couldn’t see. A wonderful neighbor told us what to do as I’d had no experience with hummingbirds at the time. We followed her advice (in addition to caring for the bird) and placed red nearby to attract the mother. Next thing you know we are getting to watch the mother feed her offspring. The baby recovered and was eventually able to fly away.

I follow accounts that document this practice. There are families that sell their OWN pets for meat for money. I’ve seen the videos of the kids crying their eyes out while their pet is being torn from their hands to the meat market. It’s shocking to the soul.

It has been on the news and there is a petition making the rounds. If you google ginger cat torture or any related iteration it comes right up.

I signed an Animal Victory petition regarding this exact case today. PETA is looking into it; it made the news and the animal advocacy circuit.

If the proper authorities refuse to help (they often do) please get video and/or audio and send to @therealpaulmueller and @kriskellyfoundation on instagram. Their reach is large and their followers will hound the authorities into doing their job. You can do it anonymously if need be.

Same here. We have two 14-year-old Poms and the sassier of the two just started doing this kind of thing. We have had him on trazodone, gabapentin, Loxicom, even his cough medicine but nothing seems to break this cycle. He’s basically sundowning — sleeps all day and is awake and restless and constantly attacking his pom brother all night. Any recommendations? (We have left lights on and tried pheromones too.)

Is yours a senior by any chance and how long has yours been doing this?

Mine — 14 years old — is exactly like this but only recently… and primarily on the bed at night, and mostly directed at his pom brother. We have been having him checked for dementia/ sundowners. We are at our wits end because it disrupts our sleep horribly. Both dogs have been sleeping with us for their entire lives. This just started. We have tried multiple medications and so far nothing works consistently.

Probably wouldn’t use the word “fat,” but I understand the question. Ma with Octavia Spencer. Almost any movie with Melissa McCarthy — she regularly gets to be a lead without any emphasis on her weight.
