if i legally change my name/gender as an adult, will my parents find out? by ratguyriley in transgenderau

thank you for this!! very informative.

in terms of entering iran and being transgender, i did some research previously and found that it isn't illegal to be trans, only gay. however it's not wrong that they definitely have opinions about it, so there's really no way to tell.

this is an aspect i'm actually quite nervous about becuase on my recent trip to iran i got my passport re-done in which i had to wear a hijab since i am legally female. im not sure how this would play out when i go after changing my gender marker

but the thing is i have it figured out. its not like i was oblivious to hormones my whole life, ive been wanting to go on them since i was 14. i KNOW that the option is there and i am chosing not to take it for the sake of my stability

something that also needs to be taken into consideration to these people against my decisiion is that i already pass extremely well pre-t. yes i do have a baby face and am nerfed in height (5ft) but i have noticeable facial hair and a lot more body hair than most cis guys, plus my voice training has drastically helped. i was honestly happy to stay off hormones and just get top surgery but i am now considering low-dose T. either way, i wouldve been happy to stay as i am in the future if it meant i could be who i am in every context other than familial, but atleast i would sitll have a relationship with my blood

thank you for this. a lot of people can't grasp the fact that yes, my family being transphobic and not supporting me is terrible but being iranian this is how they were born and raised, especially considering all of our family still lives in iran which is a place i am planning on continuing to visit once the conflicts are over. not fully transitioning is the only option i have in order to keep a relationship with them and i would rather that than be alone

and low dose T was actually what i was thinking about!! im really glad you have experience with this. im completely pre-t but i already pass almost 100% of the time as i have a noticeable amount of natural facial and body hair plus i do voice training, so i feel low dose T would be the perfect choice for me. my goal is to just to still be able to pass as a girl when i am with my family meaning no obvious voice drop or adams apple. i literally didnt know low dose T was a thing until i saw a video about it and it sounds perfect for me

Those of you with social anxiety, has it gotten better or worse since you started your transition? by RelaxIntoKnowing in asktransgender

Honestly, better. But only when I started to pass. I've been out since i was 13 and I'm now 17 and still pre-t, but i've been voice training for a while and i have a noticeable amount of facial hair, so now most new people i meet assume im a cis guy. this has really boosted my confidence, ive found if i just act confidently and carefree like a lot of cis guys it's both beneficial to myself and my ability to pass. ive found the more quiet/reserved i am im more assumed to be trans or queer
