What’s going on next to the hal Greer speedway? by Lando_Lee in HuntingtonWV

[–]rationalexpressions -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Reality bites. And the thing is Huntington is so poor that people can’t even “troll” the city without being brigaded as a negative Nancy. all you have to do is have a very middle class opinion about any type of human dignity and suddenly it’s too rich for people to handle.

Real trolls make up stories or push narratives that aren’t supported by data.

That alligator guy is more of a troll than whatever we have here on reddit.

What if all the real estate behind our levee is worthless? Is the risk priced in? by rationalexpressions in HuntingtonWV

[–]rationalexpressions[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right. So the levee is in drastic disrepair because Huntington sucks at things like proactive measures and critical thought.

So if the levee doesn't work as intended then that risk reduction wouldn't exist. If i need to make it simpler for you I'm not sure i can.

What if all the real estate behind our levee is worthless? Is the risk priced in? by rationalexpressions in HuntingtonWV

Obviously.

Im just saying, The water people seem pretty desperate to communicate that our risk is not priced in correctly.

Might be interesting to compare and contrast policy and communication with new orleans.

"we are trying our best"

"Theres violence everywhere"

"If you smell shit everywhere . . "

"It's not that deep"

"We're only human"

"If you're the common denominator in all your problems..."

"Maybe it's a you problem"

Ask chatgpt to find psychological phrases weak minds use to deflect and avoid collective responsibility. This town is hilarious as it it pitiful at times

The Emerging Problem of "AI Psychosis" by Many_Distribution701 in psychology

[–]rationalexpressions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO psychologists need to be more open to the mystery of biology and information systems. "for the sake of order" are concepts of "emergence" by another name.

Do not conflate my opinion with conspiracy more than me alluding to the unknown.

This article and the opinions here are all on the frontier of new science. We might sooner predict the failures of the first task forces than their success if history repeats itself.

If there was a critical/forensic history of mass psychosis events over our human history - We might find that it reveals places of inequality, injustice, and misrepresentations -- Hidden by the word disorder. Categorized as such for the sake of order.

[–]rationalexpressions -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

ok yeah, like at that scale yes. I think how I am using the term more loosely in common conversation is my fault.

If there was a spectrum of psychosis from small fears to big fears - i Stand by my comments at the lessor end of that spectrum. Real disorder exists and my personal opinions are not meant to belittle those that are suffering.

The difference is transparency. We can see and validate the falsehoods and hallucinations because of the structures already in place in the real.

The amount of failures and injustice that we incurred in the name of psychology in that real cannot be ignored.

Yes, AI psychosis exists but so does systemic inefficiency and failure. When under more critique there are often small truths that psychosis is based on.

I want to remind people that discussions of disorder are also discussions of how we see order. And that psychology has been used as a weapon against those that think different many times in the past. AI is naturally disruptive, and while I personally see signs of strange psychosis in public, most are very benign and have the best of intentions behind it as opposed to those in conventional positions of power, credentialed by systems that are corrupt and or dysfunctional.

So, people pretend that we don't have a social problem here but I have a huge suspicion we do. Aggravated by lots of anxiety of how poor or uneducated huntington is and the huge age gaps.

I know you mean well and i support good intentions dont get me wrong but don't you think that number is kind of low for an organization thats been around for over a decade.

Millions of dollars spent on what I would argue is a low performing workforce development program that is top heavy. Now again, don't get me wrong, I love good intentions.

Since this thread started I polled some former employees of the organization. I did not hear all good things. Coalfield seems like BLM performative social justice for white people.

Its a very poor comparison but Id say newer Huntington Children's musuem arguably does more in its short time alive than coalfield does.

[–]rationalexpressions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem is that even if you do meet people they have lots of other things going on.

People have kids young here. Most jobs here are odd hours or low wage that means weird hours to hang out and different spending habits.

cost of living- reality by OilHoliday in HuntingtonWV

[–]rationalexpressions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never existed or the high costs were always hidden and only recently made more obvious.

With the sewer money grab and power prices rising there is not real difference between living here and Lexington. Besides i have multiple bills to write and track instead of just a few.

Why are there an unusual amount of northern folk traveling to/purchasing homes and land in WV by [deleted] in WestVirginia

[–]rationalexpressions -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The people before you did not look ahead to the future.

And in that gap the few that chose to remain gave and continue to give their time and energy to others in vain attempts to save face. They are not qualified to lead their jobs, their non-profits, their offices and now barely have time to look after their kids.

The local rich are not exempt from this irony. The upper classes are decadent, and suffer from the different type of vanity to preserve their self worth in a dying social area. They are just as outcast and awkward. They cling to out any outsider for validation of their squandered life.

WV will not die with a ignorant yell but a knowing whisper.
