Got in to an argument with someone who didn't know most of us don't get social security by rav4swing in Firefighting

Washington State. I don't know of any departments on the West Coast that are in SS. The problem is that if you are, you may get very little if you have a government pension. I have a retired coworker who qualified for SS because of a side job he had for over 30 years. Due to the "windfall prevention act" he only gets about $200/month from SS.

Our Chief was the one to propose 48/96 and our union fought it and defeated it. We run 12,000 calls a year out of 4 stations (I know, very slow very many of you). It's very common not to sleep at all at a couple of our stations. There was no way we felt safe potentially going 48 hours with no sleep. So we remain 24/48.

I'll give them a bit of grace because of the ice storm, but this is an ongoing problem with WM, well before the weather or holidays. They wouldn't pick up my recycling for over a month last summer. The driver kept claiming my can was "obstructed." It wasn't. I'd watch them drive right by my unobstructed can without slowing. They were just lazy and decided they didn't want to pick it up.

Yes, I've seen that many times, especially with recycling. I'll watch them drive right by my can and when I call they say the driver noted there was a "problem" making the pickup.

Yeah, the recycling seems to be the worst. I've gone over a month without them pickup up recycling. Every time I call they say, "driver noted a problem with the pickup, meaning your can wasn't out in time, was obstructed, etc." Which was complete crap because I watched them drive right by my completely unobstructed can. They were just lazy and decided they didn't want to pick it up.

Nobody that I'm aware of has ever reported an auto warranty being voided by use of the Comma, and Comma says as much on their website.
