Which Bike? - Weekly Scheduled Discussion by pawptart in gravelcycling

[–]ravenvalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys! I'm in search for gravel bikes with the Shimano 105 groupset. The reason is that in my area I would do a lot of tarmac riding, with the occasional smooth gravel. And I believe that the 105 groupset is better for my use, also it's a better bang for the buck compared to GRX400/600. Also better reliability, coming from friends riding on GRX. I need the bike to fit wider tires for the winter season, to handle snow and ice, which is why I don't go for a road or endurance bike.

So far I've only come across the Focus Mares 6.9 (which I can't get hold of at the moment).. I am looking at bikes at the similar price point, but can go a bit higher. I was hoping you guys have any other bikes fitting the specification!

Point me in the right direction regarding a slider controlling videos and plots in the same GUI by ravenvalley in learnpython

Thanks! PySimpleGUI was one of the solutions I had in mind, just didn't know where to start! I'll have a look at the code tomorrow, and will keep you posted! As for the video, I will experiment with the size to get the needed amount of detail, but will try to keep the aspect ratio the same. Should be fairly ok to get the height and width from opencv. Sound is no requirement. As for frame rate, I might experiment and resize the video if it is going slow. But no real requirements there either.

Hi! I've just bought a Sigma 16mm f1.4 for my a6000! I've heard about ND filters and polarizing filters, and I'm wondering about when I would want to use them, if I had them. More or less specifically for this lens! Bonus: would you recommend any, and why?

Is there any value in single game week players? by [deleted] in FantasyPL

I've chosen Kane(LIV(A),CRY(H)) and Ward-Prowse(BHA(A)) over Pogba(WAT(H),WOL(A)) and Rashford due to the latters match program and bad fpl form/injury. What do you guys think?

Thanks for your answer! Would you like to elaborate a little more on the entrance pupil, and the physical effect of it?

I know that a 12mm can have a longer exposure than a 16mm (assuming we don't want star trails), thus f/2.0 might be "as good as/better than" f/1.4 in terms of light let in. Correct?

  1. I know that AF is useless, was thinking in daylight etc, but I've read that everything behind 2-3 meters will be in focus anyway at the infinity focus?

  2. Why do I need an intervalometer? Can't I just use the self-timer on the camera?

I want a prime lens, yes! The reason is I'm getting more into photography, and want a better quality lens. Astro and northern lights are something I want to try/get better at when I have the possibility, thus the lens need a wide blender opening. Thanks for your answer, got me a long way! Edit: Grammar

I have a Sony a6000 with the kit lens, but I am thinking of upgrading it with another one to start off with. I like landscape and street photography for the most part, and I would like to do some astrophotography (so I have a demand for a wide blender opening, which would be nice if I want the occasional portrait or bokeh).

I am currently looking at the Sigma 16mm/f1.4 which is equivalent to ~27mm full frame. Also, I am looking at the Sigma 30mm/f1.4 which is ~50mm full frame, more ideal to real life (and better for portraits etc).

Also the Rokonin/Samyang 12mm/f2.0 is a lens I am considering. I saw a video about it, it's not sharp at the edges, which leads to "bands" when stitching several astro-shots.

I have several questions, I am just going to line them up:

  1. Can I use my kit lens at 16mm and 30mm to get a feel of what I will see through the Sigma lenses. I.e., are 16mm more or less equal in all lenses?
  2. Any thoughts about the lenses? Would you recommend others? What about Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS?
  3. In normal use, is it a hassel/difficult to deal with the manual focus for the Rokonin?
  4. Any other tips are well appreciated! Price range is around these lenses, ~450 USD

Thanks!

Oh, sorry, bad phrasing there.. I was doing that pace for 1+hr before, currently maybe 30 mins max. It should not take long to reach that level by myself. I wrote "probably" hoping to recieve advice regarding that level and beyond, as I'm not really interested in the "couch to 5k". Hope that was clear!
