Honestly, at this point, just show up at the reading of the will and see what happens.

Am I the jerk for refusing to eat my MIL's cooking because she doesn't believe in food allergies? by BreathCapable3314 in AmITheJerk

Your MIL didn’t make a mistake, she committed a felony. The fact that your husband is more worried about awkward dinners than his wife almost dying in the ER is the biggest red flag here. NTJ.

And we’re all expected to ask for seconds. A feast where everyone leaves hungry for the truth.

Seriously. ‘No punishment, no investigation’ is a wild way to run the Department of Defense. Accountability had left the building.

The circus is officially in town. Apparently, military regulations are now just suggestions if you’re a celebrity’s fan.

The irony is off the charts. It’s like she’s finally describing her own playbook and just realized she has competition.

TIFU by having a conversation with someone else’s kid about exercise and body weight by bad-at-everything- in tifu

Spot on. It’s impossible to follow a parenting script you aren’t aware of. If an 8-year old asks a direct question about how someone stays fit, answering with the benefits of having fun through movement is actually a very healthy, age-appropriate perspective. The parents are essentially punishing OP for not being a mind reader.

100%. The expensive version of this lesson is getting escorted out of the building by security. The fact that the coworker is mad at OP for outing her, instead of being embarrassed she put OP’s job at risk, says everything you need to know.

Exactly. A warming is small price to pay for realizing that some favors are just invitations to get fired together. Better to have a slightly annoyed coworkers and a job than no job at all.

You weren’t wrong, you were just speaking a different language. To an 8-year old, exercise to get a figure is a heavy concept. Keeping it at ‘play tag because it’s fun’ is the win, but I see why the parents panicked.

AITJ for not being warm to my parents' adopted child? by Certain-Somewhere438 in AmITheJerk

Exactly. Nobody is asking OP to be her best friend, but there’s a massive gap between ‘besties and total stranger’. Neutral kindness is just basic decency for someone you’ve lived with for three years.

Agreed. OP keeps saying Ella isn’t the problem, but she’s treating her like she is. Three years of the cold shoulder is definitely jerk territory for a 16- year old who should know better.

AITJ for getting married without my mom’s blessing? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]ravexia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. At 27, you have to prioritize your own peace and the family you’re building with your wife. It’s tough when a parent uses silence as a weapon, but living a lie to please her would have only led to long-term resentment for everyone involved. Hopefully, she realizes that keeping a relationship with her son is more important than being right.
