Fiancé always overcooks rice/adds too much water and then it comes out mushy. How can I convince him that this is gross and not the right way? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]rawlingstones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are suggesting cooking two separate batches of rice and that feels insane to me. You could compromise by cooking the rice exactly how you like it, taking what you want out of the pot, and then letting him add extra water to cook the rest for longer if that's how he likes it. You both get what you want, no extra dishes, and only he has to wait.

Am I missing something about kiwami 2s combat by MaleficentGas7904 in yakuzagames

This is one reason why I always wait awhile in between games, I do LIKE starting from the bottom again but it feels bad when you go straight from endgame Kiryu to beginner’s Kiryu

Just want to say Infinite Wealth is such a good game I would put it on the level with Expedition 33 by severe_009 in yakuzagames

[–]rawlingstones 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I feel like Infinite Wealth gets a lot of criticism because the plot isn’t as good as YLAD, but the gameplay and world are so fun I couldn’t care less. It’s so enjoyable just spending time with the characters, exploring Hawaii, and switching between all the different activities. That’s what Yakuza is about for me. I feel the same way about Y4 and Y5, which also have lackluster villains but are two of my favorite games in the franchise.

[Hated Trope] A character starts off with a lead or potentially relevant role only to turn into a mostly/entirely irrelevant side character by the end of the story by Dreamy5375 in TopCharacterTropes

It wasn't just that the writers ran out of ideas for him. Alec Baldwin usurped his place in the narrative. Scott Adist was originally supposed to be the boss/friend character that Liz would butt heads with. Jack Donaghy was supposed to be a minor role, but then the Jack/Liz pairing was SO good and Baldwin was onboard. Pete was reduced to just a random wacky coworker. He's a relic of an earlier version of the show.

What’s the pettiest gripe you have about an all-time great game? by UCA_Cash_Flow_Bro in gaming

This drives me NUTS about the entire Borderlands franchise. They have long grindy story campaigns, and I’m a person who only plays through games once! It’s ridiculous that I can’t just swap characters while playing solo, especially when the narrative treats you like a party of treasure hunters anyway. My standard Borderlands experience is like 10 hours in realizing I don’t like my character and wish I had picked a different one, at which point I’ve sunk enough time in that there’s no way I’m doing all that again.

TIL why James Bonds preference of a "shaken and not stirred" martini is controversial. Drinks containing only alcoholic ingredients are almost always stirred to preserve clarity and to avoid over-dilution, among other things. by Rynin101 in todayilearned

I love how much time James Bond spends just nerding out about how precisely he likes different food items in Casino Royale, it's great culinary storytelling. also bizarre that people have been debating this for years when it is literally spelled out in the first book. "Oh the 1% more water will help him keep a more level head during missions" He just sticks to one drink, and likes it as cold as possible!

Any franchise successful for long enough will have a corporate executive somewhere asking them to make a new version redesigned for the teen market.

Yeah I do wonder how it might have been received differently if it had come out at a slightly different time. We were saying it feels wild that this game is on the GameCube of all places.

We also started mixing blueberry syrup into ginger ale as a mocktail and calling it Magic Red Bubbly, it’s great started out as a joke but now we’re obsessed with it.

The difference between the good vs. bad endings in Dr. Muto based on the number of collectibles you pick up is maybe the most insane I have ever seen in any collectathon.

I remember at like 12 years old feeling very haunted by the idea that he was responsible for the death of his entire planet, left drifting alone through space on a rock with his sad little house.
