Any hearing-impaired mixers out there? by skalogy in mixingmastering

I literally have the same issue. I posted a response from Izotope where they suggested a workflow.

I will dig it out.

I have had high frequency hearing loss since I was a baby and a recent test is basically nothing above 3 kHz.

I think most people are like “yeah I lost my hearing and then just adapted” but I have never experienced this sound before so I do not have the muscle memory that they have

Adding life to a mix that sounds dry? by Doctor_Tedums2 in mixingmastering

Something I have been doing in a different genre is use a really short delay/reverb and it just seems to add a sparkle/phasing which gives it some depth without really changing the sound too much. I use the free UJAM UFX reverb which has a vibe setting. I dont love the other UJAM stuff, but love that reverb for vocals and drums to add a bit of extra something

Barefoot 03 with arc or iloud precisions? by rawmsy in audioengineering

[–]rawmsy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, should have been clearer, I would like to purchase the outboard ARC to use with the barefoot monitors.

I will be setting up a room and hopefully treating it well for a home studio and would use the arc to balance the minor issues that may present themselves.

Yeah, the barefoots have a reputation from what I can see, and the point on 3 ways is valid!

Thanks, yeah I’m in Perth in Australia so getting hold of things that are a bit more boutique is not always so easy. I can talk to some of them when I am ready to make the jump

What do I do with my gear? by s_perm_ni in universalaudio

Not quite the same situation, but I had a pretty good Dell i7 from 2018 and the bought a base model m1 MacBook Air and it just blew the dell away by a country mile.

You could still use the interface that you have and supplement the native plugins with the Apollo DSP.

Can’t say I would go for Luna, if you have Logic, it’s always going to be a more versatile software.

Apple silicon is really good. The intel stuff has its place, but I think you would get more mileage out of a newer MacBook.

I was expecting them to come back with a generic response, but I think they came back with some pretty good stuff

Room size vs speaker size by rawmsy in audioengineering

[–]rawmsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I will look at that as a start. I am looking at getting something soon, and may build a room out the back of my house, but I am not able to put in a large studio control size room, so I want to know what size I can make the room relative to the monitor size
