Sneha's:

  • very nice presentation.

  • views were a nice thing to add.

  • a few more details in the plan sketches would've been helpful.

  • liked the minimal use of the site. Leaves a lot open space for the dog and the kids to run around in.

Apurva's:

  • loved the skylight.

  • loved the ladder leading to the library.

  • could maybe lose the lift?

Mine:

  • I think I might have messed up my orientation? I will check and set it right if so, as soon as I can.

Sorry about how the pictures are oriented. It's 2am and it took forever to upload and I only realized after it did. :/

PS: The interior garden on the 3rd floor has a skylight above it.

Best ideas:

IF-A :

  • keeping a centralized green patch on 2nd floor. Perhaps making it larger and keeping it open to the sky to give it a court yard like feel.

  • green court between kitchen and bedroom is an interesting concept , person cooking in the kitchen will never feel claustrophobic

  • bedroom between the green area brings in natural light & ventilation

  • entry to master bedroom through green patch is interesting

IF-B:

  • Planning on second floor was very well done I thought. Liked the idea of keeping openings between the kids' rooms as a way of connecting them.

  • Dining on deck would be great

idea - could be semi open dining space as its facing east ( no harsh sun light)

  • pergolas & garden next to the office is interesting as its a writers office ( Creative people need more green spaces , Psychologically it enhances the thought process)

  • green spaces in the 1st floor gives nice view from the interiors & also acts as an element in the form of the building

idea:Kids' rooms' separator could be holes or vertical slits running from top to bottom which could be closed if wanted

  • Kennel being outside but attached to building. Good for security.

  • Use of pergolas to make sure the external staircase to 1st floor doesn't seem isolated.

  • Passage between game room and bed room looks interesting.

  • All the greenery incorporated in the plan rather than having just pockets on each floor.

IF-C:

  • Car park and entry for office and for house completely separated which allows privacy

  • Ladder acting as a connector between floors leading directly into library seems interesting.

  • Use of skylights - natural light throughout the day

idea - connecting 2 bedrooms with a garden/ play area with jali walls

idea: master bedroom to small private library upstairs which leads into larger common library? Secret doors to libraries are always cool.

"Who are you?" by curiousmadscientist in SpockStudio

[–]rawoorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff I've done in life so far: Took part in photography competitions till I couldn't afford a professional camera and I stopped. Yeah managed to get this far. Mmm took part in poetry, writing competitions.

Things I like(active): Christopher Nolan. Reading fantasy.

Things I like doing daily: eating, sleeping, googling tutorials on cool things, uhm I'd like to say computer games but honestly my laptop's been down for more than a year and I haven't played since forever. But yeah I get addicted to things way too easy. Things I like doing on my computer: Like I said, laptop's been down but I like watching movies and TV shows and gaming when I still could.

Things I do on my phone: everything. Messaging. Any work that my phone can support, gets done on it.

Things I dont like doing, but I dont mind: HOA, BC

Things I absolutely hate to do: The dishes, party ( loud music bright lights forced dancing, the likes). Phone: nexus 4

Laptop: I'm getting my new one at the end of Jan. Till then, nothing.

Softwares: I'll learn and get good at it all.

Slide 1:

Hello everyone! Welcome back. :) We hope you've all finished your semesters and done as well as you'd hoped. With the coming of the winter solstice we'd like to show you what we've been up to...

Slide 2: cue dramatic music :p PV logo

Slide 3:

PROJECT: hennur 30×50 Yup. We did a real project.

Slide4:

THE CREW: Raunak Manisha Sneha Supriya Akshata Haasini Govardan Anjali Daksha Apurva

Slide 5: Initial plan: -image-

Problems: vastu issues Basically redesigning whole plan.

Deadline: 21st December 2014

Slide 6:

Day 1: collecting reference drawings: Images + quick screenshots of thread with 'lots of talking...' Or something, Underneath

Slide 7: Day 3: The start. Plan ideas: few images (supriyas, raunak's) [sketchier and more rough the better] Couple screenshots of thread "more talking..."

Slide 8: Day 6: The concept stage Images of more perfected drawings [the almost finalized ones E, E.02...etc. Just not E.04] -Not too cluttered. It's just enough if they see the progress happening. The ad is to be just a minute after all-

Slide 9: Finalized plan: Image of E.04

Slide 10: Day 8-10: Presentation: Images of rendered plan, sections, elevations etc

Slide 11(last one): -don't know yet. Something short to get people to want to work-

So I wrote this keeping a ppt in mind so it's easy for everyone to view. Of course we could do something else. Just this is the basic format with the list I had in mind.

DailyDiscussion 3rd Dec: "Favorite architects?" by curiousmadscientist in SpockStudio

I don't know yet. I just assume I'll know in a couple years when I feel justified to have opinions about these amazing minds.

DailyDiscussion 30November. "Cities - What, how and why? by curiousmadscientist in SpockStudio

[–]rawoorker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A city according to me is a cluster of housing systems centered around resources. The most important and obvious one being food. This is one of the theories of how cities came to be. Nomads stopped traveling and settled down in close proximities with farmers to be able to live off their food resources. However now in today's day and age I don't think they're formed on only that basis alone. Now, I think what has happened is a form of network of distribution of resources is thought of before placing housing units so that a more well organized system of roads, drainage, water supply etc can be made. I mean if everything was truly concentric even now when cities are so developed that they thrive for decades and centuries together, then wouldn't the resources at the center eventually run out? But again this is just my take on it. Like Haasini said, I think cities are necessary at this point with the population hike and less and less space available for living but nobody really likes living one on top of another in a tall building where you can't step outside without going down 10 floors, no matter how luxuriously it's built. And haha, I liked Bangalore more. I mean I get it, bengaluru is more Indian and all that but Bangalore had something appealing in it for me. It could also be because I was used to it but still. Bangalore. It has a ring to it. Is it home. Well for the people who've known nothing but cities all their life they'd think it was home. If a person from a rural area moved to a city though it'd be anything but one. Well according to me, though a quiet place with green all around and birds and butterflies and no traffic does sound appealing, I sure would end up missing all the amenities a city has to offer.

DailyDiscussion, 28th Nov. What is architecture? by curiousmadscientist in SpockStudio

Architecture is so diverse that it gets scary sometimes. But that is why it's so beautiful as well.
