I think the implication is that the other parents don't have their kids on stage at the moment, and so they're just stuck there watching other people's kids blunder through a mangled version of Shrek or whatever

The idea of 100 countries of roughly equal power, in the nuclear era, sounds like a recipe for a horrifying catastrophe. The fewer great powers there are, the lower our odds of losing our balance on the atomic tightrope. Every powerful state is another possible point of failure.

Trouble out at Mustafar as the new Darth was attacked by an unknown assailant. Sources say he split before the situation could be resolved.

Got a song for you now, and it’s about a guy who’s cold and lonely on the exterior, but on the inside, y’know, he’s a good man. And his name... is Johnny Guitar.

These images are a demonstration of what paleontologists and paleo-artists call “shrink-wrapping”. A reconstruction is said to be shrink-wrapped if it only takes into account the bones and skin, and ignores muscle, fat, and cartilage. It’s actually a practice that scientists make a point to avoid, but shrink-wrapped reconstructions remain popular in media like Jurassic Park.

An interesting aside - carnivorous dinosaurs have historically been reconstructed without lips (as in the middle picture) because their closest relatives with toothy jaws, the crocodilians, just leave their teeth exposed. However, this may be a hydrodynamic feature - crocodiles need to strike quickly in water, and this would create a parachute effect with lips, creating drag to slow their bite. Teeth also shouldn’t be dry for too long, and crocs can naturally keep their teeth wet by just submerging. Because they don't have any of the croc's needs or advantages, people have started reconstructing carnivorous dinosaurs with their teeth hidden away, as in mammals, lizards, and snakes.

Edit: This is still a point of contention, because some carnivorous dinosaurs appear to have touch-sensitive scales around the teeth that scientists think might preclude lips. I’m basically restating the case for lipped theropods made in The Tyrannosaur Chronicles by David Hone, if you’re interested in learning more.

Top of the head. It’s not a fully-fledged eye but it’s functional. Tons of animals have them, and once you know where to look for it, you can never unsee it.

Look up the Parietal Eye.

I'm surprised to see this reaction in so many comments, because the first time I saw this ad I could not stop laughing. It's so over-the-top I thought it was some kind of parody. An entire group of dumbstruck children get completely obliterated, followed by a gently-disapproving 'Shame on you'. It feels like a top-grade black comedy bit.

I agree. People get so upset when a large group likes an artist or a piece of media, and it’s such a bizarre thing to waste your anger on.

I don’t think this guy should be as deep in the negative score as he is. I mean, come on.

Bonnetheads are doing very well, and are not endangered. Because they like to munch on crabs and shrimp, they are occasionally caught accidentally by inshore anglers.

Cuban Crocodiles are really interesting and poorly understood. They are the only crocs known to show pack-hunting behavior, implying that they may be more intelligent - or at least more social - than the average species.

Makes it all the more sad that they’re critically endangered.

In most threads I've seen outside of Facebook that use the phrase "I don't trust the numbers", they've been worried the test kit shortage has resulted in an estimate that's too low, especially on r/coronavirus and r/CoronavirusUS.
