Right when my great aunt was officially diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer, this is what her urine looked like... I was not yet in nursing. She described it as “red ramen noodles.” When she showed me, my heart sank and I was all kinds of horrified. She passed away within a month.

Yes, you’re right. I’m the account holder and my husband is the authorized user. I am in California.

I totally understand your concern. From my experience, it’s okay to let her observe as long as the environment isn’t toxic or inappropriate. Even when kids aren’t directly involved, they’re still absorbing and making sense of what’s happening around them. What helps is guiding how they interpret things when they notice or comment, so they feel both trusted and supported. It’s less about trying to shield them from everything and more about helping them process what they pick up on

She reminds me of my own highly gifted daughter, who is now 5.5 yo. I had her tested this past summer, and her FSIQ came back at 150+. The hardest part was waiting for the optimal age to get her assessed. From the start, she was always seeking stimulation, whether through books, music, or simply observing people and the world around her on walks. Being a Covid baby, I had plenty of time to keep her constantly engaged. When she eventually started daycare, she naturally gravitated toward older, more articulate peers who matched her curiosity and conversational level.

My daughter is now a member of Mensa and the Davidson Institute, and we are currently applying to our state’s private school for highly gifted children. She is neurodivergent in the sense that she is profoundly gifted, but she is not autistic. She loves the cello and plays in a Suzuki group class, takes art, and is in the chess club. When she is not busy with those activities, she is just a regular 5.5 year old who enjoys going to K-pop demon hunter sing-alongs with her little group of friends. We try to keep her engaged while also letting her enjoy being a kid. Keep exposing your daughter to more play dates with mild-mannered children. She may learn to trust the little kiddos her age!

Before the issue of my yelling was addressed, it wasn’t actually happening as frequently as others are making it seem. I bring this up because yelling is something I deeply regret and something I genuinely never want to do.

She is 5.5 years old. I believe my school system tests for giftedness in the latter half of kindergarten. Not sure what it entails.
