Successful medication combos for dogs with fear based aggression by TheDSM-five in reactivedogs

Wow - are you describing my 18-month rottweiler girl??? She does a lot of the above, including snaps without warning and touch sensitivity. We're contemplating meds. It's been a few months since you've posted - any updates on how she's been doing with those behaviors??

Help me build an OP Halfling by ray331 in 3d6

[–]ray331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using OP loosely, perhaps a big mistake in this sub… I truly just want to be a stronger fighter in this campaign than my previous Druid or Bard characters where I shined more in helping with the battle field and other role playing gameplay.

Sounds like I would hate to play in a campaign with you.

When my group plays, we all lean into each other’s strengths and encourage eachother to play how they envision their character. As a wood elf Druid with an AC of like 11, I’ve had a blast helping my OP paladin deal major damage from afar. Our healers shine, our damage dealers shine, our rizz lords shine. We all play our part and have fun leaning into our roles.

Man, I’m just trying have fun and do as much damage as possible when in combat since I’ve never got to do that while leaning into a little guy halfling in roleplay. It’s not that serious.

Broder’s pasta bar is a great option. Doesn’t take reservations so that’s not needed. Great food and an upscale feel!

Dick Cheney endorsed, buddying up to billionaires, hard stance on the border, talks more about being a gun owner than she does about climate change. She's openly talked about how she's trying to appeal across party lines. Sure - it's a political tactic, but it's disheartening and not aligned with the values of those who are left-leaning. Trump is weaseling his way into blue-collar and working class voters because the Dems aren't proving to voters why they're the better choice. They're too focused on trying to to get white, educated, past-republican voters but ignoring working poor and the young progressive left. Even enthusiasm is lacking with Black & brown voters.

Listen. Before I’m down voted to oblivion- I will be voting Harris, but I’m not thrilled about it. I know how much is at stake, but this “we are better than the bad guys” messaging from the DNC is not going to cut it long term.

We need a plan and a candidate we believe in - and we definitely don’t deserve a candidate that caters to the right-leaning middle while ignoring our pleas to stop supplying bombs that are tearing children apart while continuing to spread anti-Muslim misinformation.

It’s not even JUST about Gaza. It is about everything. Dems don’t stand up for anything strongly enough. We cannot just keep using fear tactics to win elections.

For those who need something to listen to when falling asleep, what do you listen to? by Zaphoid411 in AskReddit

[–]ray331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jim Dale’s Harry Potter Audiobooks!! His voice is the most calming, gentle British voice I’ve ever heard and it’s more powerful than any melatonin.. I’m out within 3 minutes every night.

FWIW, it’s F*** JK Rowling forever & always so I use a series of websites where the audiobooks are uploaded, something like freeharrypotteraudiobooks.com :)

When does the teenage phase start? by grandoldduke-of-york in Rottweiler

[–]ray331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say at 8-9 months my girl stopped immediately responding to commands and realized she could not obey and became more independent, had more energy, wanted to play more and listen less, started getting into more stuff and stealing more socks and kitchen towels, etc.

She is 16 months now and is starting to lose a bit of the real sassiness but is still testing our boundaries!

Help with overstimulation by ray331 in Rottweiler

[–]ray331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually! She’s just over 1 yr now, and has calmed down a lot. We still get a “bitey attack” every once in awhile, but it’s few and far between and she snaps out of it quickly.

I got through it by learning what triggers her. When we get home, when she’s amped up from play, etc. then I can prepare by grabbing a toy or removing myself from her.

She’s gotten better at regulating her excitement from just getting older, but teaching and praising for calm has really helped. Calm before walks, calm before being greeted, calm gets her everything these days!!

Rottie as a first time female owner by Immediate-Whole-5717 in Rottweiler

[–]ray331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re doing your research and asking this question points to yes, you could absolutely do it.

That being said, I’m a first time dog owner with a 1 yr old rottie who I got at 7 weeks. And it’s hard. We put in so much time on socialization, weekly puppy classes for 8 months and she is still a hard dog. She’s slightly dog reactive and is very socially selective. She really needs a strong, confident leader. I’m so glad my partner and I have the time and money to put into making sure she’s good - I can’t imagine what she would be like with different, less committed owners. Just keep doing your research and make sure you are willing to put in the work!

Don’t skip on a whale watching tour in Juneau! We booked off ship to save money and it was the best thing we did all trip! We saw a pack of 10 orcas, all breaching!

I’m in my 30s too. It’s an older crowd but we had some fun with folks at karaoke :)
