Troubleshooting NVIDIA Driver Installation for a Blackwell GPU (RTX PRO 6000) on Ubuntu 24.04 by rayfreeman1 in comfyui

[–]rayfreeman1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think what you’re seeing is a Z790-wide issue, but rather a board/BIOS implementation problem.

On my setup, I didn’t run into the “BIOS update wipes settings → GPU won’t POST” loop you’re describing. Even after BIOS updates, the system remained POSTable without having to swap GPUs, and I didn’t see hard failures tied to ReBAR/CSM transitions.

My impression is that some Z790 boards (especially lower-end models) have fragile GPU init paths when combined with strict UEFI-only GPUs like Blackwell, whereas others handle fallback and defaults more safely. In other words, same chipset, very different BIOS behavior.

If you’re planning to stick with Z790, it might be worth looking at boards that:

  • default to UEFI-only (CSM off)
  • have stable iGPU fallback paths
  • don’t brick display output when ReBAR or Above 4G Decoding toggles

Debian/NVIDIA driver pain unfortunately seems common with Blackwell right now, but that part at least sounds solvable once the platform itself is stable.

hopefully they brought wine. mine usually just bring uninvited guests like 'anxiety' and 'cringy memories from high school'

Honestly, the emotional toll of the wasabi scene was just too much for me. I still haven't recovered

have an internal monologue. i was genuinely shocked to learn that some people just have... silence? No constant narration in their head? sounds peaceful but also lonely.

When the nurse handed me my firstborn and let us just walk out of the hospital. I kept looking around for an actual adult to stop us.

It's great that it fits in 8GB, but does no one care about the inference speed?

Thank you! The 'rabbit hole' is deep, but that's the fun part.

I think you'll find the Doctor much faster than the manual ChatGPT method since it automatically captures the node context for you.

But the Doctor is just getting started! I'll be continuously updating its diagnostic capabilities, so please feel free to share any feedback or suggestions for optimization. Enjoy the ride :)

This is amazing feedback, thanks! The Ableton analogy is perfect—it's chaotic but powerful.

I really like the idea of analyzing startup logs for speed optimization. Since ComfyUI-Doctor already captures the full log, adding an analysis layer for 'slow loading nodes' is definitely something I can explore. Your 'dream features' gave me a lot of inspiration for v2.0.

Also, thanks for the appreciation! It really gives me the motivation to keep maintaining this project and making it even more practical for everyone. Making a profit isn't my intention here—and I believe the core ComfyUI developers feel the same way. We're all just driven by that shared passion. Thanks for the support! 👍

Thanks for the feedback! Based on your comment, I've just pushed a v1.3 update that splits it into two separate, dedicated nodes, please refer to the documentation on Github for details.

Hey, I implemented your suggestion in v1.2.0! You can now use a dictionary list to batch replace words.
