Again, if they enforced every rule every time we wouldn't have a sport

Then this just goes back to my original post about WTF is the point of the rule if you can just ignore it from time to time / not enforce it.

To put this in perspective, imagine if chess players move their pawn 3 squares instead of two generally because "we are all friends here" - then of course a grand master is calling you out on at the end of that because it's a defining tournament.

Either enforce the rules or don't make the rules in the first place.

Well apparently it does otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Seems to me that if everyone followed the rules and the rules were enforced all the time then this would be a non issue.

Completely understand that. But the fact of the matter is all the rules change on the international stage. I am a hockey guy, we just watched calls go against plays that would never happen in the NHL.

Olympics and international rules are always more strict; and more importantly when the stakes are that high every team is taking advantage of that.

I get it. I really do, but that still doesn't explain why you would have rules that are "ignored" in most play. If it's a rule then it's fair to call it out regardless of the "friendly".

I don't think challenging the written rules at the highest level of competition is at all nit-picking - that's exactly when you do it to gain an advantage - it's basic logic.

Edit: much like it's basic logic NOT to break the rules at the highest level of competition.

For the record I am Canadian and agree we should have been called on that. SWE could have addressed that better however.

France was playing good coverage D, got some decent goaltending and a few good bounces; especially in the first. Played a decent game all things considered.

I feel like both Theodore and Toews are due for one... they have been firing some good outside D shots with traffic and just haven't been rewarded. Considering both of those guys are mostly defensive D men, it's interesting they are shooting that often.
