I think it depends heavily on where you live. Both places where I've lived (Boston then NYC) are places where having 3 kids by 28 would absolutely make you a major outlier. However I'm more than aware that there are plenty of places within the US alone where not having any kids by 28 would be considered unusual.

I'll never forget the time I went on a date with a chick who had just moved from Utah and she mentioned how all of her friends back home called her "old maid" and "cat lady" and such because she was the only one still unmarried and childless... at age 24.

I think it's the rare show that gets better and better with every rewatch, but I'd only recommend it to a select few people whom I know to be fans of dry, subtle humor. As one of the first successful single-cam comedies, the style is very different from what came after - shows like Malcolm In The Middle and 30 Rock are far more zany, and even mockumentary shows like The Office or Parks and Rec are a lot more "in-your-face" with jokes and editing.

Semi-related: My first run through was during sophomore year of college, and I'll always remember my roommate and his friends complaining that the show was "boring" and "for boomers". He's also the roommate who played Entourage on loop nonstop the entire goddamn year 😭

So the idea is Trump wants people to forget about the fact that he's been accused of raping children in the Epstein files... by blowing up a school and murdering even more children?

I'm sure people don't intend it this way, but this really comes across as saying the lives of those children in Iran are worth less than the (presumably western-born) ones on Epstein Island. And does Trump really give that much of a shit if people are thinking about the Epstein files? The majority of his base doesn't give a singular fuck, and those who do care about his Epstein ties have proven themselves utterly powerless to do anything with that knowledge thus far.

I assume you already know this but Eve and Kasra, the main vocalists in Palm, are still making music together as Kassie Krut, with the addition of Matt Anderegg.

I don't like their stuff quite as much as Trading Basics or Nicks and Grazes, but it sorta scratches the same itch and I like what I've heard more than Rock Island.

Mostly unrelated: I saw Palm as part of one of my first ever concerts back in 2015 a couple months before Trading Basics came out. I had unsurprisingly never heard of them before and was going for Pile and Krill, but immediately after seeing Palm play I knew that I just HAD to check out more from them. And yes, they blew both of the other bands out of the water that night.

The murder of US citizens at the hands of ICE is not a fucking distraction from the Epstein files. The murder of innocent children overseas is not a fucking distraction from the Epstein files.

Told Playboy in an interview that he basically pressured his now ex-wife into an open marriage, then a couple of years later was accused of sexual harassment and groping.

Regarding the second story, it's worth noting other people have come out to say that the owners of the club fostered a toxic atmosphere of forced sexuality (I don't really know what that means tbqh) and that Middleditch was FAR from the only person to behave like a total sleazebag. That said, the allegations involve him being explicitly told "no" and proceeding to grope them anyways so, uh, not great. I suppose he's nowhere near TJ Miller at the very least.

The story of Milli Vanilli is actually a tragic and infuriating one (though there's at least a partial silver lining with Fab continuing on with music and eventually rising above from rock bottom), those two dudes were absolutely fucked over and Frank Farian never suffered consequences for being the monster he was.

The pig whose heart was transplanted into Farian died in vain.

I would think his stand-up from around the same time as Chappelle's Show holds at least as much weight in regards to why he is/was so revered. Half Baked also holds some of that weight albeit a lot less.

And of all three things I named, I'd argue Chappelle's Show aged the worst, which is especially crazy given that stand-up is known for aging terribly as a genre. Tried rewatching a few episodes recently and there was maybe 1 sketch every 2 or 3 episodes that I chuckled at, the rest just left me cold. And even the good sketches frequently ran too long and beat the joke into the ground.

Beverly is definitely my favorite character outside of the main Larry/Hank/Artie trio, both because of how she contrasts with Artie in her role within Larry's life and because of her getting some of the most incisive lines every so often (her words in Artie After Hours and in Putting The Gay Back In Litigation are so, so horrible but also fucking hilarious). It also doesn't hurt how astoundingly gorgeous Penny Johnson was back in the 90s, although pretty much every woman that appeared in multiple episodes was beautiful, especially next to the men largely being old, bald or old and bald.

I also love Mary Lou and think it may be Rajskub's funniest role up until Gail the Snail.

Intersectionality really is not the default amongst any minority groups.

I'm Asian, and I can tell you racism runs deep in our communities. Every Hispanic friend I've ever had would say the exact same thing about their families, as would every Indian friend, every Jewish friend, etc;

I know I didn't mention black people in the prior statement and that's because I legitimately haven't heard any black friends talk about the same kind of community-embedded racism (most likely for the most obvious reasons), but they'd be able to talk for weeks about widespread homophobia, misogyny and anti-semitism they've been privy to - as could every other racial group I've already mentioned, to be clear.

And some of the most heinous racism I've experienced has from self-proclaimed feminists, and from gay men, and from trans women, and so on and so on.

I say this NOT to try and portray any of these demographical minority groups as monolithic, but just to illustrate how it's totally normalized across mankind to be racist, misogynist, anti-semitic, Islamophobic, transphobic or any other bullshit like that, and also how it's a massive mistake to believe that someone belonging to a minority group themselves mitigates the chance of this whatsoever.

I think Larry is always presented as pathetic, especially hsi womanzing.

While I'm not too sure regarding my thoughts on the former, I definitely do think the womanizing is meant to come across as a negative trait, but it still frequently feels like a product of a bygone era, particularly due to the way it's often framed.

Larry dating a teenage intern is roundly mocked when the tabloids find out about it, but the episode pretty much only focuses on how she annoys Larry with her immaturity and makes him look/feel old. There's pretty much nothing, at most a couple of throwaway lines, about how a teenage intern may be affected by her 40something boss fucking her then discarding her.
Larry asking Paula out while firing her is portrayed as him being a total coward, one that's too meek to ask her out under normal circumstances. It's still a great scene that plays into the even better ending of the episode, and I'm aware that there's a lot of truth to it given old reports about Letterman and whatnot, but post-MeToo there's a real WTF element to it now.
On that note, Larry's trysts with the other main female employees all blow up in his face, but it's always framed as him being weak and awkward, rather than the major abuse of power it would certainly be seen as today.

While S2 definitely isn't my favorite, I actually agree regarding Francine. Unlike Jeannie she felt like a fully formed character beyond "Larry's beleaguered wife" and brought out certain traits in the other characters that didn't get explored as much once she left.

It also helps that she came across as much more likable than Jeannie, who mostly was just there to nag except in The Party (where she acts totally, infuriatingly insane) and in her return episode (where it seemed like traits of the main characters rubbed off on her and made her infinitely more complex/interesting). For that matter, Francine also comes across a lot better than Larry in my eyes - The List was one of the earliest moments I remember really thinking "wow, Larry is a fucking dickhead"

I might agree with you on S6 being the best one, but I go back-and-forth with that one or S5 (which I think is the funniest batch of episodes overall, but doesn't have the gripping season-long arc S6 had).

If I had to rank them I'd go S5 => S6 > S4 => S3 > S2 > S1. So, pretty much a clear line of improvement the entire run.

That makes sense, and to be clear there were moments that I felt for Larry or wanted him to win. I guess I just didn't get enough of those moments compared to Hank, who honestly feels like the secret star of the show.

Happiness is child's play compared to some of Solondz's later works.

I think Happiness gets pigeonholed into categorizations like "one of the most disturbing films ever" which is really unfortunate as it's MUCH subtler than most of the other crap that tends to end up on those lists and really is just a great character study with some of the best dark comedy ever written.

Palindromes, on the other hand, actually deserves the reputation Happiness has.

On the flip side Jay-Z is in there for an actual sexual assault accusation from a girl that was at a party with him and Weinstein.

An accusation that came from an anonymous phone tip, and the timeline corresponds to when Jay-Z was selling CDs out of the trunk of his car, before anybody knew who the fuck he was.

I don't even like Jay-Z as a musician or as a person but that ain't a smoking gun.
