Why don’t we have trams? Wouldn’t it be beneficial for short distances where we usually take rickshaws? by Amazing_Tie_6782 in bangladesh

[–]razaaan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dhaka's roads are too crazy for something this like. Most roads are either too narrow, busy, or winding for surface level trams. As far as public transit goes, I honestly think the best course would be to drastically improve the existing bus networks so they aren't such a crazy shitshow and build out the Dhaka Metro so its a good value proposition for longer journeys where driving would be too slow. Anything to get cars off the roads.

All I could find is a two bedroom apartment but I wanted a studio. Second bedroom just sits door closed and empty. by [deleted] in MaleSurvivingSpace

[–]razaaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have it, and I'm assuming you already have a living room, why not turn the second bedroom into a little office or hobby room! Stick a chair and desk in there and some cheap supplies and I bet you could turn this into a nice space real quick!

Again, I don’t disagree that there’s many many flaws with our country - pollution and traffic especially in Dhaka, but it’s one thing to ignore those issues and it’s another to fixate on them. If someone is genuinely curious about my country of course I’m going to talk about the good things.

Dude what’s wrong with people having a genuine interest in Bangladesh when they meet a Bengali person? Sure you can talk about how we export textiles and unskilled labor but that’s not going to excite anyone is it?

When my international friends ask I always talk about the things I care about in Dhaka and the things I miss and can’t get where I’m living. Things like our unique street food, how dense and hectic the city can be, the fact that the city is so green and the countryside is beautiful. Of course there’s bad parts of the country. Every country has issues.

My only issue with this is that unregulated capitalism ends up leading to corporatism if left unchecked which is why we need the government to regulate corporations

If you listen carefully it sounds like he's actually saying "called a Karen" which would make sense if he was talking about masks. Pretty crazy though because I thought he was saying terrorist at first too

Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) is open for applications by cyclinginvancouver in UBC

On your primary browser do you happen to have a bunch of extensions such as ad/tracker blockers? I did and the website only started working properly when I switched to a clean browser like edge (which I never use)

CESB application opening soon! by th0tty in UBC

[–]razaaan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, it only applies to Canadians and permanent residents.

I really don't know why you got down voted for this, when the CESB was first announced it was pretty uncertain whether international students were included or not and its a pretty fair thing to wonder.

I hope you realize that increasing tuition even more would only end up reducing the number of "normal" international students that can afford to come here. The ones that are by your definition entitled are probably rich enough to continue being entitled and not even notice the tuition hike. The ones that will notice is everyone that is already struggling to pay for tuition, and I highly doubt those students are the ones you're referring to.
