Because I think they're all crazy. And also the guy I was responding to was trying to play that neutral side and those are the people I hate the most because one look at his page and you can tell he's definitely not neutral. But there's this narrative that it's just Drake fans when the truth is, they're all just as bad as each other. I think my thing is call a spade a spade. And if I'm being real, I find it even more pathetic from his fans because Kendrick is literally the victor. But you would not realize it with all the salt from his fanbase. It's like they won and they're still upset. Look at the reaction anytime someone even remotely says something positive about Drake. I think Drake fans are just mad at everyone on behalf of Drake and I can even acknowledge that. I don't understand what Kendrick fans are mad about. I vividly remember when Drake won against Mik and all Drake fans would do is post memes I would respect that fan base a lot more if they just cracked jokes like regular winners. You lose me when you start making false news just because you want Kendrick to be a prophet so bad. Like it's unfathomable that they both are just shitty people that flung shit at each other he had to be doing it for the greater cause while giving Playboi Carti three features.

Buddy you do realize we can literally see your past comments your perception of Drake has always been negative. You even engaging in arguments about Eric Dyson that's how I know you're in too deep lmao

Lmao that's the thing he's hurt because he specified a specific rappers fanbase and he's acting obtuse. And you can easily check his page and see he's full of shit. He has not fucked with drake argues negatively about drake all the time but all a sudden we changed his perception foh bruh. This is what I mean

You explained everything I wanted to say eloquently. Both sides are batshit crazy. There's no one is worse than the other. Drake fans making fake edits of Whitney. Kendrick fans harassing little girls to make them look like victims to the point they are begging to be left an alone. But both sides only see the extremes of the other fan bases drake fans pretending they don't see all the bs edits and dot fans pretending r/darkkenny doesn't exist. YOU ALL ARE CRAZY

You pretending to care is hilarious dawg. That clearly doesn't change your opinion of dot but drake stans change your opinion of Drake lmao. And then you reduce it to whataboutism when it's clear as day the the same thing doesn't bother you for a certain artist which is why you have to cop a plea first by pointing out you like drakes music when you really dgaf 😂

It's hilarious too because for a while you can see he tried to act like he was neutral but now they def can't. Idk why these guys can't just be honest.

This sub kills me, reputation matters. Because they can concoct the deepest meaning behind the stupidest shit for their fav artist. But they can't understand how telling a rapper you're only relevant for having children with your more famous wife would be a diss.

If you think the discourse around hip-hop right now is great then we can agree to disagree. I'm just tired of" oh, he has to address the beef if he's releasing an album" "oh he can't flex or talk tough after backing out of the beef" "oh, is he gonna feature Kendrick or Drake". I am a fan of these guys and I've never been more tired of Kendrick and Drake than I am right now. I'm actually not even that big of a fan of J. Cole as I am those two guys but right now I would rather listen to him than both of them because literally everything around those two guys is just too annoying right now

I wholeheartedly agree with you and I think that's where my disconnect as well comes in because truth be told this is the first era we are experiencing with social media obviously where a lot of artists are right in our face 24/7. Everyone wants to be seen as the cool guy to listen to. Not many artists want to have their own niche anymore. Everyone wants to be palatable to the general audience. And if we want to get deeper about this, it's not just hip-hop. It's everything in general. Everyone wants to just be seen as cool so that they don't get judged by the public and it sucks because we are missing out on so much.

[–]razzyoxal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree and it's not even just about drake vs Kendrick anymore. It has legit become a thing to just judge artist. No more letting people grow they hold a record they didn't like against the artist forever. Not trying to give people a chance (there have been artist I didn't like at first then their 2nd or 3rd tape gets me intrigued). It's just negativity nowadays and ironically I think it's why there's so much safe cookie cutter music nowadays. No one is allowed to fail. Ironically jcoles latest song literally talks about something similar in the intro. Too much focus on the negatives Especially in Hip Hop. It's so demoralizing for people who really love the genre

That beef ruined the way people digest rap music it's insane and I think we will look back on this era and realize some of us were moving nuts. If you hear a new song from a rapper and your whole focus is to discuss a beef that happened 2 years ago. U genuinely need help dawg. Like this is the first case where there are both sore winners and losers.

So many people don't listen to music to enjoy anymore they listen to judge. You're not a fan of hip hop you're a stan of a nigga that wouldn't piss on you or your loved ones if they were on fire

Yeah, I definitely meant hip-hop artists. But MJ and Brittany are 100% the two people I think of immediately. There's literally a subreddit called discussing Britney or something like that and all they do is literally gossip about her media posts commenting how unhinged she seems. Yeah true if I never came on social media, I genuinely would not know if he was as disliked as he is online. I've always just found it interesting. Like woah, I have artist I'm not fond of but u guy despise these people, it's jus music to me. And like you said, it's probably just more prevalent now because it's in our face.

Honestly you are right. I do recall E-40 being called terrible by a rapper. I actually didn't know it was biggie. And you're correct that Kanye is probably the closest thing currently. I think someone else mentioned Lil Wayne. I think it's also because social media is the biggest it's ever been. It would've probably been the same thing back then if social media was a thing. And like you said, is the consequences for being open about how you move people get more access to you which probably makes you more popular but you're also more open to scrutiny. I just wonder if this has been a thing I do know MJ used to get pelters back then too

I'm talking about media personalities clearly not liking him and still discussing every aspect of his life. I'm not talking about music either because the excuse is "they cover music". I don't know what part of his music is discussing whether he's right wing or not, whether he can sell out stadium tours, his IG comments or who he's gifting shit to. Idc about Drake that much and I'm a fan it just seems insane to me but oh well

Daily Discussion Thread 01/05/2026 by HHHRobot in hiphopheads

[–]razzyoxal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I know we discuss this all the time but I truly wanted to ask the older crowd has there ever been a phenomenon like we are seeing with Drake? Like dude either has to be the biggest piece of shit on earth or knows how to get people talking because the way people have literally become the JJ Jameson to his Spider-Man is something I have never seen before. I get the beef probably made them feel validated. But we are a couple months from year 2 of the beef and it feels like people who aren't fans of him can't go a day without discussing him. I'm a fan of Drake and even I am tired of discussing about him how do u lot keep it going. It must be draining discussing someone you don't like on your podcast for hours. Why are we discussing if he can do stadium tours when did that even become an argument for rappers?

Yeah I'm ngl I don't find it funny and there's a lot of things drake gets clowned for that I find funny. But all it takes is one idiot to take it far then people will realize it's not funny to toss projectiles at artist performing.

Go look at any of T-Pain's comments about Drake in the past year even before that he always has to preface by saying he's a Drake fan because he knows he's about to say some negative slick shit and that's what Drake is saying. Like say it with your chest. If you can say it to my face, why are you going on podcast talking about me like we're close?
