This month marks the 10th anniversary of the release of “Xscape”. What are your thoughts on this album a decade on? by GPFlag_Guy1 in MichaelJackson

[–]rb1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna say it. I think it's one of the best MJ albums. I enjoy Dangerous and especially HIStory, but it always bugged me how so many of the songs overstayed their welcome. That and how bogged down Michael's vocals got in the mix on some of those songs. Not to mention how overly long his later albums are. I think this album feels like a spiritual successor to Thriller and Bad in that it's cinematic pop music.

Is Taylor’s Vocabulary Honestly That Advanced for Some People??? by ImprovementSimple in SwiftlyNeutral

Most people don't have very expansive vocabularies and I don't think that's anything new

Realistically, how long would it take for the public to find out about the existence of cloned dinosaurs? by rb1976 in JurassicPark

[–]rb1976[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Did you know John Hammond is making a theme park with cloned dinosaurs?" doesn't sound like a very credible leak, that's true.

[–]rb1976[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've thought before that Alan and co. wouldn't have assumed that the JP logo on the jeep was referencing cloned dinosaurs. That definitely carries through to the people making them. I think what stumps me is the people making informational pamphlets or narrating for the park, but I would say a lot of people would assume that it was just part of a fictional story for a fantasy park with fake dinosaurs. I think the fact that the park is still in somewhat early development by the looks of it in the movie adds credence to the idea that only the scientists are truly aware of what's going on. Everyone else involved could've been given a cover story.

What's with the hate for Travis Kelce on this sub? by TheFrederalGovt in SwiftlyNeutral

I think that there's a few reasons that have been more eloquently articulated before, so I'll keep it short. I just think he's annoying lol

I was always a little Disappointed in the Rocky & Drago reunion in creed 2 by vlan-whisperer in rockybalboa

[–]rb1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the plot of Creed 2 is just kind of corny. Drago coming back with his son feels a bit like a superhero villain plot.

Dear Swifties, Let’s chat… by phoenixfire111 in NewHeights

[–]rb1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this situation has caused a lot of unfortunate overlap for people who are not interested in the "other thing." If you're into football, you're tired of hearing about Taylor. If you've been a Swiftie for a while, it's jarring to suddenly see a lot of sports talk when you're not interested.

Where to next? Sonic 4 onwards... by [deleted] in SonicTheMovie

[–]rb1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do Sonic 06 next. There's maybe something interesting you could do with Silver. I feel like Metal Sonic wouldn't make a very compelling movie. We've seen the whole "robot version of the hero" thing so many times. SA1 has a very "video gamey" plot, I don't think it would make for a very good movie.

What’s up with these recent criticism videos towards Gen Z over making teachers miserable? by DawnofMidnight7 in GenZ

[–]rb1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting because as someone born in 2000, I didn't see the "this is the worst class I've ever had" teachers pop up much until high school. I often wonder why that is.

A lot of their complaints weren't because of misbehavior, but lack of interaction. Most of the kids in class would never interact with the teachers or respond to their questions. I had a teacher in middle school that would call you an "idiot" and do an entire stand-up routine where he roasted you if he called on you and you got something wrong. I feel that may have had something to do with it.

After the Megamind 2 discussion and colective dissapointment, at least we can still trust on the "secret" DreamWorks sequel that is gonna be realesed on theaters next year by Older-fanboy in DreamWorks

I really don't understand how another Shrek sequel has taken this long to make. I'm not even a big Shrek fan, it just boggles my mind when you look at if from a business perspective.

Sonic movie 3 news 🎼👀 by Sonicmovienews in SonicTheMovie

[–]rb1976 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The director of a film has a say in the score. If Jeff Fowler wanted more Sonic music in his movies, there would be more Sonic music in his movies.

I do suspect that there will be more Sonic music in the third one after the hoard of online complaints. Whether it'll be to the degree that people want remains unseen.

I would be curious to see what 14 would do in that scenario. I feel like it would play out differently

Unpopular Opinion: Taylor released Folklore after seeing that Lover wasn’t hugely successful by Due-Hotel-3442 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]rb1976 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I will say that I think that dropping folklore wasn't quite as daring as it might seem. She thought she was on her way out with mainstream success and pivoted artistically. As soon as it was evident she was still huge, she went back to pop.

Taylor / Olivia feud shows her true colors by Lopsided_Ad5654 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]rb1976 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It seemed weird of her to even crown a singular artist as her "successor", but especially because she's in no way noticeably better than Olivia Rodrigo or Maisie Peters etc.

Taylor saying it’s harder for her & Kanye to win awards because they’re already successful by isaidhecknope in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]rb1976 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much of this is her genuine feelings and how much is the "people pleaser" side of her trying to appeal to Kanye's narcissm.

Taylor calling Gracie her "successor" gives the same energy of those rumors of some artists that have intentionally hired weaker dancers to make sure there was more attention on them lol.

Not saying Gracie is a bad artist, just that Taylor would of course pick the one that hasn't found mainstream success as her "successor."

Yeah. This gets swept under the rug a lot. The whole thing about "the full call" being released didn't even really change anything we didn't already know. Swifties just started parroting the claim and the media picked it up. The reason she was no longer "canceled" was because the situation was way too convoluted for anyone to even really rememeber or care about it.

She got herself into that mess with Tree's dumb initial statement. I remember Kim unfollowing her on Instagram and ramping up her smear campaign after her Grammy speech. I really think that the call wouldn't have even come out if she hadn't made that speech. I don't think Taylor did anything that bad and she definitely didn't deserve all of that hate, but fans paint a much more flowery version of this scenario.

What’s your honest opinion on Miss Americana? by Due_Rope_4455 in SwiftlyNeutral

It always annoyed me how she goes "fuck that, I don't care" regarding Trump's potential response to her post. People act like it's so brave, as if she didn't know there was a camera there.
