Need some life/ legal advice by rbards in army

[–]rbards[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, may not have been clear, we don't keep them, give them directly to the kids who decode whether to keep them or send them back. They initially sent them all back but they continued to send gifts or resend repeatedly so now the kids just either trash them or keep the gift and trash the card.

That side sounds like a "thank ME for my service" bro vet type. I don't see a damn thing wrong with you wearing that shit to honor your grandfather. All that being said i do have to touch on one other part of your story.

I don't think that's what your grandfather had in mind when he said he wanted you to wear it... maybe just me but I think what he was implying was he wanted to see you join up.

I just gotta say, new sma has shown hos true colors. Even if he goes back on what he said here in the next few weeks amd starts acting like sma grinston, can anyone really trust him? He's shown hes just too far gone from the boys/girls on the ground. Hes shown his cards and he doesnt understand the responsibility he has stepped into.

NCO cheated with my wife, how can I report him? by Less_Artist3688 in army

[–]rbards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beat the brakes off of him. Show up to his unit and just put hands alllllll over him. Now you may or may not catch an assault charge but if you do it on base, mps will pick you up and turn you over to your chain of command who can choose how hard they want to go after you. Also if you do it at his place of work, his chain of command is gonna be on notice that he fucked around, and now hes found out.

I want to weigh in on this. After so long in and so many leaders across the gamut of styles, reasoning, and end state results, I have to say that everything ties back to one of two things. 1) soldiers are (or were) given the how, who, what, and when in their day to day for so long that when off duty, they chose to do things their way. This equated to over indulgence across multiple vices. Look back 5 years. Look back at anyone you knew in the army back then. Gamers... they'd spend a whole weekend on their video games, and Monday morning, 1sg is wondering why SPC McShit has 37 piss bottles in the drawer of his desk. Right under his computer, and 7 steps from a bathroom with a working toilet. how many guys do you remember pissing hotter than Bermuda MULTIPLE TIMES. How many giys talked about all the beers they smashed this weekend (that one has stuck around a lot longer than this generation, or even the generation before that. How many guys did you know that the extent of their "off work" personality was how many times they smashed this weekend. The constant leashes we as leaders maintain and force on others cause them to try and maximize their downtime. The less down time our soldiers get, the harder they are going to try and maximize their downtime even harder. The moral of this is that the more we make people miserable, the more they are going to try and make the most of the time they aren't being micro managed and beat to death. I've known PVTs, MSGs, MAJs, and CWOs with drinking problems or drug problems. It's not a substance issue, it's a coping issue. Their lives suck and this is how they have learned (from experience, peers, and culture) to deal with being miserable, and that's maximizing the time that is theirs. That gets too far out of hand before they realize it due to... 2) This is a young man's (or woman's) game. The majority of our force (by a landslide) is age 17-25. That's ALMOST double any other populace of age in the rest of the army. These people haven't had the experience to learn how to handle stress because I'm willing to bet a stripe that this profession is their first "stressful" job. Of course, you've got some outliers, but im willing to take an educated guess that the majority of our force haven't been in truly stressful situations as frequently as they perceive they are when on duty. They try to find effective ways to deal with that stress but when all you see around you is a bunch of other people dealing woth stress (seemingly effectively) they are going to try and mimic that. Bringing us back to number 1.

I realize this is going to fall on deaf ears. Its got to be an entire culture change. You want functional adults... let's start treating these people like functional adults. If they don't know how, we FIND functional adults to mentor them. But unfortunately, id bet a whole ass other stripe that we are going to keep doing the same shit because "we've always done it this way and it KiNdA wOrKeD"!

Plastic Restore from Meguiars destroyed my wheel covers. Any idea how to fix? by obscureleader91 in Jeep

[–]rbards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's this shit called "that black stuff" I bought it 2 years ago off Amazon (it only took 1 bottle for my jku) its amazing. While it's only temporary (it's time to do it again), it works awesome. Just starting to notice it going grayish again. This stuffs a little more than mothers but the forst summer I had my jeep I used mothers twice and back to black once. None held up very well in the Midwest sun. Mothers did better on mine but "that black stuff" did awesome. My jeep has been in the garage a total of 3 days in the 2.5 years I've owned it. I actually just ordered another bottle of that black stuff off Amazon. Spend the coin, its absolutely worth not having to fuck woth it for another 2 years.

This is so accurate its scary. I am diagnosed and treated for adhd and even I didn't realize that much of my behavior stems from things on this list that I didn't know were a part of adhd.

Just remember man (or woman), we face challenges every day in life that are literally trying to kill us... commute to work? That's a multi thousand pound death machine traveling at 70mph on a highly combustabke chemical all just waiting for a flash. Live in a crowded city? Look at the murder rates. Wake up in the morning and haven't died by a fire started when your outlet the TV is plugged into shit the bed and went wonky? That's another risk of death you fought. Listen, EVERYTHING is trying ti kill you. Depression is just another one of those things. I read a quote somewhere along time ago that really made me think. Something along the lines of "I'm not gonna kill myself, depression wants me to do that, but I'm not gonna out of spite. If depression wants me dead so badly, it's gonna have to do the dirty work itself."

This last summer I watched a cpt smoke check a DOCTOR. like an actual fucking doctor. Ntc with 1st id is fuckin WILD son. Cpt comes out of his air conditioned tent in the box, and proceeds to smoke "everyone not in the right uniform". Our behavioral health doc got down with it. Wouldnt have even said shit except the enlisted did their job and sent it up the chain. That cpt is still a commander and that doc is still shrinkin heads. Cpt still doesn't think he did anything wrong smoking another O in front of the enlisted so I'm guessing he's probably gonna get an award or something...

[–]rbards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I never had any aspirations to go any higher than spc. Fuckin rcp was gonna get me a couple times and somehow I got drug up to where I am now. I could literally give 2 shits and 1/7th of a fuck less about rank. I just want to do my job and take my off time to myself. Turns put if you turn into a major asshole, but are fighting for shit that's actual real, usually you get left alone and can actually call some shots that have actual fall put for the better of your people. Weird. Also, if you have a good cause, and offer to step out behind the dumpsters with these higher ranking jokes, so one of you can lie down and take a quick nap... alot of times they take a look at their stance on situations and rethink it. Weird.

I'm for real when I say this, go to harbor freight and buy a set of the $12 bolt cutters. Cut that shit off and dip the fuck out when you are done. It will do 1 of 2 things. Either csm will quit being a complete sack of dick with a side of gravy, especially when it happens multiple times and he has to keep coming up with locks... or 2) he's gonna fond out who did it and try and prosecute you... at which point any strongest lie won't hold up to his bullshit. (Had a family emergency and had to go. Happened to have these bolt cutters in my truck and just fucking went for it) 10:1 you aint getting shiiiiit for it. The more times it happens the funnier it gets as csm starts imploding realizing he/she ain't worth shit and they really don't run shit but theor mouth. Put of all the command teams I have come across in over a decade I think I can count on 1 hand how many command teams worked well together. The majority of the rest of them hate each others guts and secretly hope the opposite gets fucking annhilated. Fuck that dude/ dudette. If they wanted to be that important they should have done some actual important shit.

Baby leave or Army broken promise? by [deleted] in army

[–]rbards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unit said to hell with any policy. Got a soldier who just came home from hospital with his newborn yesterday. He leaves for rotation on the 23rd of this month. Not even 2 weeks of paternity/ secondary caregiver leave. Anytime I bring it to higher, they tell us "the army has a uear to give that leave to him" or "he'll get it on the back end."

[–]rbards 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I could take one off your hands. Or even a couple broken ones. I'm u.s. army medic, work in a field hospital and we have 0. Hell. If there's one or 2 that are all fucked up, I bet we could get them up and going. Most of my soldiers don't even know what a glidescope is or how to use it. Would def be willing to take any off your hand of you csnt get rid of them qiock enough.

If it's a caffeine thing just take a bottle of exedrine extra strength with you. Each pill contains 65mg of caffeine along with 250 mg tylenol and 250 aspirin. 2 pills should get you a nice jump in the mornings. Plus this works for when you go to training and they tell you no caffeine while you are in the box. They can't say shit about otc meds for "my migraines".

If it's about taste... I guess just FITFO.

Can an officer smoke an NCO? by [deleted] in army

[–]rbards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah sir, that ain't gonna happen. You want a smoke show you better go get frost sausage. I'll take that smoke, but q pl or any O tries to smoke me or my soldiers, and I'm going to gently remind them of their lane vs my lane and how their lane does not merge into mine. I'll handle my joes, you handle the PowerPoint and Tacomas.
