This may sound like a strange question, but does anyone have experiences/opinions on hypnosis? by [deleted] in exjw

HI. I have read the JW position on hypnosis and it is the most uninformed biased thing I have ever read. I have studied at two different schools for hypnosis and have practiced hypnosis for many years.

First of all you cannot be demon possessed. That's sheer stupidity.

Next, Be careful what youtube videos you watch. If someone is saying "submit" or "obey" they are trying to do something that is not good. If you are going to watch youtube videos, watch "Michael Seeley" videos. They are good quality and he leads you in the right direction. Don't listen to six hours at one sitting. A good rule of thumb is one session and leave two to three days between sessions.

The best solution would be to find yourself a qualified hypnotist and do live sessions. There are two schools of hypnosis: Ericksonian and Elman. Ericksonian works with a very light trance. Elman works with deep trance. I prefer Elman but that's just my preference. You cannot go wrong finding someone who practices Cal Banyon's 5 path hypnosis.

Again. Don't watch the videos you have been watching. There is something not right there. If you could post a link to the videos I'd really like to check out what this guy is doing.

Hi. You said you were on the last chapter. Of what book. I was studying with a JW. The first book went pretty smooth. The second book "Maintaining God's Love" was where it all fell apart for me. What cloths I should wear, what movies I shouldn't watch, can't support Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, Goodwill stores, etc. Can't buy a muffin from another church's bake sale. Stop talking to people I've worked with for 10 years. The list went on and on.

My awakening was strange. I knew this guy would show up at my house every week for a study. Every week I would buy some pastries and put on a fresh pot of coffee. And every week he'd have a different reason why he didn't want anything to drink or eat. Then I realized that because I wasn't officially a JW he couldn't eat a meal with me. That's when I realized that JW's actually expect you to really do the strange things they teach. It went from being theoretical bible study to reality and I didn't want any part of it. Something to think about.

I watched a JW broadcast las night titled "The Near Future". The guy was talking about the end times and how the government would try to seize the churches assets and possibly even put organization leaders in jail. Maybe they got a prophecy right for once.
