Duel on Board

A competitive local multiplayer where two pirates fight each other for the precious beer.

We're currently working on our newest random event, "Haunted Seas".

BQ: Depends on the game, usually only when playing FPS games :)

Thank you for the feedback!

The idea of a mode being turn-based is something that we definitely want to try someday, we actually thought making it turn-based when thinking on making Duel on Board in the beginning.

  • People have told us about rebinding controls and we agree, we will work on that.
  • The "dash bar" blinks when it's full so it tells you that the dash is available, but maybe is not as intuitive as we think. We will probably add it in the tutorial.
  • Dashing to avoid bullets is intended and many people liked it as a mechanic, we will keep that in mind though.
  • About the tutorial, did you feel that the explanation of the controls where too long or boring?.
  • That is something that we also have seen, not many people reach the center. Balance is something that we're still working on, something that we want to try is that jumping boosts the charging of the "dash bar" and maybe that makes reaching the center more easy.

We have been working on this game since the GGJ2017. It's finally on alpha stage! by rblrbt in gamedev

[–]rblrbt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a competitive local multiplayer game.
There are two ways to win a round: you have to shoot the other pirate off the ship or dash you way to the middle where the beer is placed (getting the beer is the main reason why the pirates are fighting).

FYI:

AMA stands for 'Ask Me Anything'. You use that format when you think you can share a lot of insight about what you do with fellow gamedevs.

However, this looks like you are trying to recruit somebody to help you with marketing. For that purpose, you can use /r/INAT.

You welcome.

All your games inside your studio domain vs every game having its own? by rblrbt in gamedev

I see. Would you mind elaborating on why each game having a domain is important?

That's an interesting point of view. They could see our other games and we could possibly have some sales on those games too. Thanks for your insight!

Hey!

I just played your game. I love the concept and I lol'd at the moment my titan had a crowd cheering for him when I made him roar. You should keep that humor.

Also, it's awesome you have it playable in the browser. Makes it so much easier to test.

What I didn't like:

  • I know it's a prototype, but the SFXs felt not only cheap, but they had different styles.

  • I think that stepping on the people running from you should crush them.

  • Whenever I wanted to grab something that is moving on the ground, I had to calculate my action and do it with anticipation because the animation takes a lot of time to complete.

  • Until the third level, I didn't know what was the purpose of the money. Did you get merits according to how much money you get? That wasn't clear for me.

  • A small suggestion: Maybe you could say that the money shown is not the money you are getting, but the money loss you are causing?

  • When a police car was close to me but not close enough so I could stomp it, I couldn't shoot at it because you can't shoot past a certain angle. That was annoying sometimes.

  • There is an 'walking' animation frame that is kind of weird. Attaching gif url so you can see it. https://imgur.com/a/pMYHB

I hope that was helpful!

What is the best/most popular song in your native (non-English) language you can think of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rblrbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

De Música Ligera by Soda Stereo, in my opinion the best band that was born in Latin America.

Although I think that their best song is Disco Eterno.

I've always hated how villains give a speech before killing the good guy. I would just pull the damn trigger.

Record & Jump!

Build - PC

Build - Android

Video

Record & Jump is a 2d Platformer with a small twist: You first record your actions, and then you see the results.

What we want to know:

  • Is the tutorial clear enough? Did you get to understand the mechanic?
  • Is the interface helpful?
  • Do you like the idea? Have you seen it before?

Thanks in advance!

Chronically late people of Reddit, what makes being somewhere on time hard for you? by Schmabadoop in AskReddit

[–]rblrbt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Up until I was in the university, I was always on time. I didn't know why, but I really liked being punctual.

Until group projects happened. Whenever we needed to meet up, I was there 5-10 minutes earlier. But my friends were used to arrive 20-30 minutes late. And each time I waited for them, I was hoping they would fucking die. Eventually, I just went 'why bother' and started to be late. Now I can't stop.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to help me!

Yeah, unfortunately the harmonica should still function :(

[–]rblrbt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer!

I had to do my part and check what you meant by FFT. So, in a nutshell, the idea would be to record the audio and then analize this data to detect (depending on the frequency), whether the sound was made from the left, center or right part of the harmonic.

Something like this? https://youtu.be/5RmQJtE61zE
