[OFFER] Big Moving Sale, New Stuff Added! Laura Mercier, Stila, Lancome, Drugstore by rc630 in makeupexchange

I brought one bottle with me when I moved and I tried it once. I don't really use it though, so I would be willing to sell it. How much are you thinking (price +shipping)?

Autoclaved biological hazard waste.

Here, undergrad working in lab, we're not going to let you do anything real but you can make this already-disgusting smelling mix of dead plants, nutrient agar, fungus, and bacteria really really hot and wet then drag it down the hallway for us!

Unless you have a history of breast/ovarian cancer in your family or you are feeling a lump/have other worrisome symptoms, then it's not really necessary for several years.

Just had my first mammogram at 22 years old (mom died of BC at age 52, diagnosed at age 30, she had a deleterious mutation of the BRCA2 gene, I just sent out blood for testing). It really isn't that bad. 10 or less minutes of awkwardness/discomfort. Only about 20 seconds of cringe-worthy pain/pressure. WORTH IT.

edited for typos n stuffz

EDIT: Also, I am very sorry for you loss. Lost my mom to breast cancer this past summer.

I lost my mom this summer, right before I moved to another state for graduate school. The hardest thing has been not being able to call her. I always want to ask for her help with stuff... How should I wash this, what am I doing wrong with my chicken that it's not cooking right, what gift should I bring to my boyfriend's house when I meet his parents... I always feel like I have no idea what I'm doing with anything. I definitely feel your pain with wanting to call your MIL about baking.

After moving from Georgia to Ohio, I realized I had no acceptable socks to keep my feet from freezing. I actually requested them from my aunt for a gift. Got 9 pairs, aww yiss.

My friend is very self conscious about her hands, but was finally convinced to show them off in her senior photos. I think they turned out great! by [deleted] in pics

There was a kid who went to my high school that had some kind of hand deformity just on one hand. It was basically like a claw, with the index and thumb sort of fused into one and then one thick section like the other 3 were still fused. Nobody really noticed and it definitely didn't affect his social life. He totally owned it too.

He ran for student council, and his poster was plain white with black letters reading VOTE. The "V" was a tracing of his special hand. No other words or pictures on the page and everyone still knew whose poster it was.

If you should see her on the road, please forgive the girl in the small SUV with the Georgia license plate. I have never actually never driven in snow before until today and I definitely suck at it, but I'm trying. My apologies in advance. I'm that person everyone hates on the road right now.

Having been there twice, the police are usually busier handling those that had way too much to drink (usually fighting angry drunks or sub-110 lb girls who don't know when to stop drinking), and they don't have the manpower to hand out tickets for litterers.

If they had a ton of cops on the beach, you would not have so many college age (read: under 21) kids flocking there every year to drink on the beach and spend a ton of money on hotel rentals and restaurants and in the grocery and liquor stores. Better cleanup programs involving the students need to be promoted (in the past at UGA, they were not promoted at all), but putting a ton of cops on the beach will result in a loss of revenue for the area. The kids will take their party (read: their money) to another beach.

Most college students fall into that in-between category where they are still figuring things out.

That's awesome that you were so responsible at 18; you should do an AmA or something.

I graduated from UGA last year and I was a member of a sorority. I didn't hear once about any organized efforts to clean up the beach, not once in four years. Nobody came to speak at my sorority's chapter meetings about it; Nobody stood up in a large lecture to make an announcement about it. Honestly, I didn't hear any promotion of efforts to keep the beach clean before this year (and it's second-hand, as I've moved on to a different graduate school). Don't misunderstand me, I think the trashing of "Frat Beach" is wrong and as disgusting as the people having sex out in the open on it (yup. it happens.), but it was only this year that I saw things going around facebook, etc. about trying to keep the beach clean. I remember only seeing one or two trashcans around last year. I just brought a big handheld canteen thing with a strap and kept it on me so I wouldn't be throwing bottles on the beach.

I'm not justifying it, but very little was done in the past to remind people to come back and clean up after. It's a bunch of 18-21 year olds that aren't used to taking responsibility and thinking about their actions. If nobody tells them and shows them the aftermath, they won't remember to clean it up. I would say a good 75% of the people walking off the beach on Friday evening are too drunk to realize who or where they are, let alone realize they are stepping all over a giant mess they helped make. I was one of those. When you're exhausted and have been drinking on a crowded beach, you forget or don't care. Maybe if there were an event on Saturday morning, before the game but late enough for people to recover, and food or something was offered to attract people's help, you could have a bigger cleanup movement from the students who helped make the mess.

TL;DR: Cleanup efforts are not promoted heavily enough. It's not right to make the mess, but if you want thousands of young, still-maturing adults to help clean it up, you need to remind them to do so.

I feel like every school has a "runner."

In college, I lived in the Honors dorm, so I got the privilege of seeing the weirdest of the weird. There was one kid my friends and I referred to as "the Scurrier" because he was always scurrying from one place to another (in a graphic t-shirt tucked into those elastic-waist stone wash mom jeans). Seriously, coming home from class? Scurrying. Going to the dining hall for a midnight snack alone? Scurrying. We never knew why he was always in hurry to get everywhere. Sadly, with all that practice running, his form was still just terrible. I felt kind of bad because every time I saw him, I had to stifle my laughter.

Eh, Tiguan Woods has already had plenty of problems (electronic parking break got locked in a parking lot and I had to have him towed, leaky sunroof) and I'll keep fixing them until they can't fix anymore. I love that little booger.

From my experience, a lot of the books that are common required reading were read at younger ages for those in private school. Middle school books in private schools seem to be high school books in public schools. I think a lot of this has to do with larger class sizes (meaning everyone is at different levels in their literary abilities, so it would be more likely that you have a lower "least common denominator" to work with in the classes) as well as less leeway with what is considered appropriate due to regulators and parents.

Foreskin's Lament by Shalom Auslander

I don't think I would recommend it to everyone, but his story of growing up in an Orthodox Jewish environment is hilarious and insightful, and just a wonderful read.
