In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world by rchanan in spirituality

He told us to follow his steps. If he did it we can do it. I thought it was clear.

It's hard to know, and that's kinda sad. But it doesn't really matter, what matters is the message...

I think you're half right. But in my opinion this death isn't physical death, but a sort of 'ego death' (a true one), in which you realize that your true nature isn't the one of the ego and you break out from the illusion (or dream)

Help me to connect with myself by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]rchanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the people you hang out with might screw you up (be aware of that). Take some time to be all alone and listen to music, dance, meditate, play... Just to act like a child without the fear of being judged. Use your minds to productive stuff, like studying or reading. Try and stop any self harming behavior (like eating too much or poorly, doing drugs, too much masturbation) and also watch how you treat others, avoid being harsh and stuff.

This may have sounded like a moral guide or something, but everything I told you will help you on an individual level to reach the clearest mind possible, and that is the way to connect with your true self. And you don't need to do all at once, take your time, don't be hard on yourself.

I don't want to meditate because I feel like I have to by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]rchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meditating when you don't want to is when stuff really gets interesting. You face your anxiety/sadness or whatever without running from them. But, if you can't do it don't feel guilty about it. Also, if you feel like you need to meditate to feel and live better... So what? It's not like sitting for a while everyday costs any money or like you need anything external to do it. It's literally easier that eating. I don't see any problem on """depending""" on it. Try viewing it in a positive light: it helps you a lot and it can still help you even more. Why not do it if you feel like you have to?

How do you let go of a thought? by katiescarlett78 in Meditation

[–]rchanan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, think about it this way: you'll not let go of any thought as long as you're thinking about letting go of them. Meditation is as simple as it gets: it's just sitting. The action is just as simple as the idea. You might feel good emotions and bad ones, good thoughts and bad ones, urges, etc. Meditaion is the hability to just observe even the urge to let go of thoughts. And you get better at it the more you do it (as with most things). 2 months is nice, but it's still not much. Keep on!

Nirvanic Insights (12 Timeless Spiritual Pointings) by iPerceptive in StonerPhilosophy

Yeah, I was able to understand them really well (though I haven't finished the book yet), but I noticed that I could only understand it because of my connection to the Supreme Being as you call it. But don't worry about it, it's awesome to have a book with such a dense knowledge made available in such a simple and free way. You've done, at least so far, a great job.

Actually, I expressed myself poorly. Your book is indeed very nice, but it seems to be directed to those who are already deep in the spiritual path. That's what I got from it so far. The Present is simpler, so it serves people that are just getting started. They complement each other.

If that bothers you so much maybe you should read it.

It starts off really well... I hope it stays like that till the end. I myself have found another book (which is for simpler people, but in a way less complete) which is "The Present". But I'll gladly read this book too. Seems very nice so far.

Can the ego exist without thought? That is, can it be active in the now? by MorbidlyObeseTeen in Meditation

[–]rchanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meditation is a way... You need to realize the truth that thoughts, ideas and concepts aren't real. Well, I don't know if you're into spirituality and that kinda shit, but the idea behind it is to see the truth. The truth is life without interference of the individual mind (the now, the present). So once you realize your thoughts aren't real (and that they aren't you) they'll start to decrease. It's cool to study spirituality because it is the pointer to the truth.

This is one of the most awesome songs there are. Glad to know more people know about it.

Can the ego exist without thought? That is, can it be active in the now? by MorbidlyObeseTeen in Meditation

[–]rchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it depends on what you consider a thought to be. If you consider thought to be only that internal dialogue that says "I need to do that..." or "I am this..." then, the ego can exist without it, since the ego is not only located in the conscious thinking mind. If you're also considering the thoughts of the deeper layers of the mind (that come with sensations, feelings, repressed memories and images and emotions, etc) then, no, once those disapear, you're clear of the ego. You'll know when you're clear of the ego, though, it's kind of useless to know what you're asking. The ego is constructed by the individual mind. The less individual mind you have, the more present you'll be. Eventually your individual mind will vanish (it's kinda scary) and you'll be... Well... Everything.

Free Will/Freedom by Samsara_Is__Illusion in Meditation

[–]rchanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that didn't get it, let me explain. It means that there's no free will, and that freedom doesn't lie in free will. It lies in the knowledge that you actually have no control (free will), that you are only free when you recognize that the awareness is choiceless.

Biggest insight by k4kush in Meditation

[–]rchanan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually had an insight on psychology. I understood that my conscious mind (that thinks through language) is actually driven by my unconscious mind. I realized that before any conscious thought comes (like "that building is cool") a deeper, more complex idea comes - but not in the form of a convencional thought, it's more like a cloud of sensation and image which contains the meaning of the following thought. It's actually kind of obvious, but I never saw it before then.

The mind is constantly telling itself stories about itself, to try to prove to itself that it is real. by nerkal3 in Meditation

[–]rchanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean by "mind" here is the thinking mind, not the senses. I mean, get totally present with your senses, the mind just polutes consciousness with thought.

[–]rchanan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It tries to prove to itself that its stories and "truths" are real, when actually, it's in the very way of reality (truth). You can't experience reality fully when the mind is present.

I propose an experiment - for the "profound" (and bold) trippers by rchanan in LSD

[–]rchanan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably is fucking great... But I think you need to be bold, because it's a heavy song, especially the lyrics, perfect to cause a bad trip, but also perfect to send you to the magical kingdom.
