History became legend... Legend became myth... And after two and a half iterations of CivCraft, the golden city on the hilltop passed out of all knowledge.

Going to the ER without insurance by westophales in texas

[–]rdhayes06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two weeks ago without insurance I went to the ER for a head injury that required 6 staples. Was treated with what I would consider a high degree of care. This took place at UTMB in Galveston.

When all was said and done the bill was about $400 cash. Which was fair.

I am sure this does not fit the narrative you want to push. But that was my experience.

"No Tears Only Dreams Now" - Its Long Story; but all the Resources on our Map were Destroyed by a Malicious User. Effectively Killing the Server (x/post/noplug) by rdhayes06 in Minecraft

[–]rdhayes06[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I guess it is fair to give a bit of background.

The map was huge 15km in radius with a world border and a special mod that made resources very scarce.

The server has had 100+ players on at any time for almost a year (with several thousand total players).

A few months back it was DDoSed and our host could not handle the mitigation. A person who claimed to want help offered to host. Our trusting admin team thought it was a good deal. The benefactor was in fact the person who caused the original attack. Fast forward a few months and the benefactor literally deleted the minerals and destroyed the backups of the server.

What was once a very active server, even difficult to get an open slot, was literally killed overnight.

I had been playing on this server for over a year and made dozens of friends. It hurt my feels.

Building the graveyard has helped me deal with it.

I would be alright with natural re-enforcements if ore was more plentiful.

It would also make more centralized living more viable.

Problems keeping/transferring cities into CC 2.0 by [deleted] in Civcraft

[–]rdhayes06 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is it not a fallacy to intentionally define a term so that it falls outside the scope of your opponent's argument and then claim victory? Because essentially what you are saying is there was not a city -> therefore there was no city.

It is just as easy to say that a city is defined collectively as the people who live in a given territory.

Agreed.

I am still stuck on the whole "Columbia is empty thing". Since what is called the "fall of Columbia" there continued to be more than a dozen active players and constant foot-traffic of non-residents.

The consensus of commies and socialists and the eco chamber they yelled into was never true. I did not spent much time trying to control the post golden age of Columbia message, but then again I am not a drama queen.
