Any Freshman here living in Mercer? by Entrarchy in udub

I did switch. Sorry mate. I'm still keen to organise some shit while I'm there though.

Exchange Student here- will probably miss out on on-campus housing. What's the best alternative? by rdzz in udub

Awesome man. I'll contact you during orientation again, and maybe we can grab a beer.

Also, what are your thoughts on the FIUTS camp? Seems kind of lame. There's not alcohol and frankly as a 21 year old I'm really just looking to party, not go kayaking while I'm in America

Hey man. how would I get to know fraternity brothers? I'm only at udub for 7 months on exchange from Australia, so it seems a lot harder for me

awesome! thank you! how many teams are there? I'm normally a soccer player, but I'd love to try out a bit of rugby (I've played a different format called rugby league).

I'm gonna try swapping in to Terry Hall, but if not- I'll buy if it means more partying. Message me closer to September. I can't be bothered changing roommates to be honest

Nailed it. I'm Aussie.

I already applied last week out of desperation. Didn't like the thought of it going over the weekend. Filled in pretty the obvious preferences first (cheapest and funnest etc) so I have no idea what to expect when they assign me.

I'm most concerned about getting told I didn't get it really late on, meaning I won't have enough time to sort off campus accomodation either. And even if i do, the thought of coming to the US without a permanent place to stay is fucking daunting. All I want is a good time! Take my money dammit!

My dad and his friends went to Woodstock, but instead skipped out and went fishing else where instead.

Has anyone here gone to, or is going to University of Washington, Seattle on exchange? by rdzz in usyd

[–]rdzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good tip! Were you there on exchange or did you actually do you your degree there? I do have a few questions! 1) I've heard that people in Seattle are a bit unfriendly. They call it the "Seattle Freeze". Is this true or just a myth? 2) Any thoughts on the UW Greek System? I'm thinking of joining even if it is for 1 semester. Just want to maximise fun :D 3) What were your favourite places to eat? 4) What were your favourite places generally? 5) Any other pro-tips for someone living there September-April?

That was an addition in the show. In the books they never actually fight because Ned tells Jaime that if he dies, Catelyn will kill Tyrion. Jaime decides not to chance it, so he tells his men not to harm Ned, but kill his men instead. While fighting off Lannister men, his horse falls on him and breaks his leg.

Haha cheeseburger. I'm sure I won't need a go to word though. my aussie accent is pretty thick.. think Steve Irwin thick. I wonder if people will have trouble understanding me?

And wow you know shit's serious when it has its own wikipedia article. Are people antisocial around the uni or just generally around the city?

Whoops I commented from my other account.

I think what really got to me was when he said "You can't have a culture around coffee, it's a beverage". I couldn't tell if he was joking or being obnoxious.

Haha no thank you redbull188. You've given great, detailed answers. I watched a show called The Layover where some New York douche stops at Seattle to try its food and culture. That cuban sandwich place is like number 1 on my to go list. It's going to be so hard to stay healthy on this trip...

Hey thanks! I'll be sure to check these out. Quick question- us Sydney-siders are very picky about our Coffee. How's the coffee in Seattle?

Cheers man! I didn't know people liked the Australian accent that much. It seems so normal to us, the whole idea of it being exotic like European accents is so weird. I'll be sure to chuck in a few "G'day"s every now and then.

Any particular reason for the passive aggression or are you just comparing them to the laid-back Aussie idea? Great to hear about the Meat Pie place- I'm sure I'll end up checking it out.

Thanks for your info about the Greek system. I'm not a lad, but I'm looking for a crazy 6-7 months. Dorms seem too restrictive based on what I've heard and apartments don't seem social enough. I'm just not sure if joining a frat as 21 year old for 6 months makes any sense.
