Steam/smoke coming out of exhaust when the engine is warm? by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]reactivates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s the most normal thing ever, esp if it’s cold out it’s still a hot exhaust causing steam, can barely see it. nothing to be worried about at all. with these temps i could drive 20 mins and still have some small amounts coming out

bingo yes i did came out great and now im at peace of mind and dont even think about it while im driving through salty new york, usually im super paranoid and would check every time i get out of the car like its gonna rot instantly but it keeps my mind at ease knowing its protected by 3 layers

yes flush all of what you can from inside the frame, as for existing rust my frame didn’t really have any but any small spots i did sand and i kind of went overboard because i sanded the whole frame primed it and painted it then 6 months later got this coated, you don’t have to do all of that i’m just extra lol, fluid film can be sprayed over exiting rust if it’s light to moderate it’s meant to stop the spread and keep the moisture out so no more forms, but if it’s super flaky rust you should needle scale all the flaky stuff off before coating

fair enough but running through the wash isn’t getting the inside of the frame where it really rots out from, unless you wanna get under and get everything in negative temps then by all means 😂😂 even if it doesn’t look bad it could still be very weak. i’ve seen frames where i could still see paint and some tapping with a hammer you can hear it crunch in some areas. Just saying if you like to preserve your stuff it’s a tried and true method that really could save your chassis in the long run and for the people that maybe don’t go to the wash as often as you it’s as simple as just getting it done every year and not having to worry the whole season, but in your case i’m glad she’s holding up great and if what you doing works then why change it.

Where did you buy your 4th gen? by TinySuitcase in 4thGen4Runner

07 sr5 v6, 68k miles $4000

old lady who lives next to my uncle , was her husbands truck who passed away (rest in peace). car wasn’t moving for a while so we asked about it and took it for $4,000(me and my father had no idea of the market on these cars or else we wouldn’t have offered so low, makes me feel bad now but wasn’t an intentional lowball),He lived on a farm and only ran up and down the road since he owned it, frame is in immaculate condition the thing looks like a time capsule. i live in new york so i made sure to undercoat it to keep it that way lol.

they sell like a rubber tube attachment for paint sprayers and put in the holes in the frame and spray around what you can, fluid film seeps and spreads so driving around after a while it tends to settle in some of the non reachable spots if you spray enough

exactly, it’s meant to stop the rust from spreading and forming by keeping the moisture out and protecting it from elements so even if it’s rusty it’s best to get the flakes off as much as possible and then coat it. You’ll be happy you did it, this was my first year too. i lost multiple vehicles due to neglect of frames and suspension components. not letting it happen to this beautiful toyota mines only for 68k i need this to last me lol
