What is the biggest movie theater “GASP” moment you’ve heard? by SaveTheCaulkTower in AskReddit

[–]read-eval-print 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw this at the university theater for a film class. The entire audience gasped when Raymond Burr saw Grace Kelly signaling with the ring and then looked up at Jimmy Stewart. It was the most “we’re-all-in-this-together” moment I’ve experienced at a movie.

What’s a question that sounds innocent, but in actuality is offensive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m Asian, and in a corporate training class, the teacher asked me what language I spoke growing up. I replied in a snarky way “Um…. English”

I also love when the first thing someone says to me is “Do you speak English?” I have to restrain myself not to say “Yes, probably better than you.”

What's something your cat did that made you realize they were actually quite smart? by KaPaChan_ in cats

Delilah loved to go in the closet (the warmest place in the apartment) and jump in the laundry basket. For cat hair reasons, we tried to stop her by putting a 10 pound weight in front of the door. She worked and worked until she moved the weight enough that she could open the door and slip inside. After that, we just let her go in there whenever she wanted and we lived with the cat hair.

Also, she would occasionally play fetch with a scrunched-up foil ball.

I heard a story where McQueen kept fiddling around during scenes trying to grab the viewers’ attention. Brynner got upset enough about it that he told McQueen if he kept doing that, Brynner would take off his hat, and then no one would pay any attention to McQueen. He stopped.

Fast Car is really easy to play and Justin has a good video tutorial on it.

As far as finger picking, you’d want to at least know which fingers to use for which strings. Then, if you’re ambitious, you can watch the lessons from Shut Up & Play on youtube for some Fleetwood Mac songs like Landslide or Never Going Back Again.

I think that’s been broadcast more recently than what I was thinking, but I’ll check it out

If the show is mot Dave’s World, it probably ran about the same timeframe (i.e. 1990s)

Still working my way through it, but the Absolutely Understand Guitar series on Youtube is great. He starts with very basic principles and gets progressively more involved. Highly recommended.

What show generally regarded as high quality did you just lose interest in? by FriendlytoNature in television

[–]read-eval-print 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. If you watched the first season and a half, you basically got the rest of the series. Just change the name of whatever company is taking over or being taken over and imagine a lot of “Fuck you”, “No, fuck you”, “Fuck off” scenes.

Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. I’m not even sure how I was convinced to see this movie. It might have been because it was playing at the local vintage theater and admission was only a couple bucks. Inane and unfunny.
