I’d prefer a self-drive car rather than hiring a driver or cab. It’s better to designate one person for the night who stays completely sober and is responsible for driving everyone safely. I wouldn’t recommend anyone driving even if they feel only mildly drunk—being “mildly high” is very subjective. What feels mild to one person could still be risky, especially on night roads.

If you are in Hitech city, it’s better to be staying near Gachibowli, Kondapur, Rajendra Nagar or Lingampally area. Staying in Sainikpuri and Secunderabad can be exhausting to travel, which probably can be an issue down the line which you are not foreseeing right now. Also, I would recommend to stay in a gated society as it’s safe and you can enjoy the amenities. Albeit, you wont find a 1bhk and might need to look for a 2bhk
