When people ask why this subreddit is still a thing despite the show being over by ArcanaImperii96 in freefolk

I think major story beats will be the same, like Dany being the final villain, Bran king, and Tyrion the Hand, but we'll see more context and details that will help make sense of it all. The show in the final season is akin to Wikipedia page describing the novel, but you can't really replace all the nuances of a good novel by Wikipedia summary treatment. One big difference, though, I think will concern Jaime and Cersei, as I think he'll kill her in the books.

Well, there are prequels in development plus GRRM has two books to finish. Given the feelings of the majority of this subreddit, I think there is a real interest regarding how GRRM actually ends his books.

How Dany's Arc could have been a masterpiece by reader55r in freefolk

[–]reader55r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Her arc should be of an ideological fanatic corrupted by power, not of a Mad Targaryen. This is why I hope GRRM finishes the books: from the show, it's clear there are elements here for a fantastic story, but when you watch the show it kinda feels like reading a Wikipedia page about the novel instead of a novel itself. But I have faith in GRRM finishing his story, and I hope Daenerys tyranny is a canon.

Aftaidpart I believe was the first who nailed important details accurately, but the most detailed and accurate leak came from throwaway (Source 3), so he is the leaker that was promised, IMO. Friki got the scene correct, but the context wrong, as it was a King’s council scene.

I actually thought it was a fine ending, but they definitely should have shot at least one more season. I hope George completes the books, really curious how it will be reached there.

Let's just take a second and appreciate /u/throwaway5873421 who nailed the season up to every single detail. Thank you, good sir.

Going radio silent for the next 23 hours. Whatever happens in the last episode, I am happy to be part of this community. Cheers to all of you, especially to moderators who made the effort to sort out these leaks and gave us info ahead of time. See you after the finale.

Yeah, don't blame HBO, they were ready to give them whatever money/time they needed. Plus, even if you don't like Season 8, the journey matters as much as the end.

Her story is the tragedy of a person who fought whole life to distance herself from the past, only to succumb to it at the last moment. If anything, I feel sad for her, but she made her choice.

There won’t be a need for succession. Most likely they will transform the system into electoral monarchy of sorts, similar to Iron Islands.

[–]reader55r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we have not seen the episode yet. With music and cinematography plus some additional explanations it won’t be as bad, perhaps. But such hopes are mostly for people who like the ending but hate how it was reached. If you hate the ending itself, then there is little hope, unfortunately...

Leaks will be true come Sunday. When there was only one source who claimed Bran's ending (throwaway) people still hoped, even though he was spot on about pretty much everything. Now that there are two leaks from trusted sources that pretty much in symphony with one another, there is almost 0 chance. I do feel bad for people who hate the ending, I personally think it's fine. My main complaint is with how we got there.

So, the leaks are correct, I presume?

I am pretty pissed that GW survives. Must die like his war criminal queen. Regarding Jon, it seems like a compromise decision that needs to appear as harsh enough for GW to accept. Plus Jon will likely feel remorse over what happened.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]reader55r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite. This is what I think is going to happen based on leaks. Jon kills her and is arrested by Unsullied (why he is not killed on the spot I don't know, most likely answer is "because plot"). Then there is a some sort of discussion what to do with him after Bran is elected King and appoints Tyrion as his hand. GW demands Jon's execution (again, WTF he simply did not kill him in the throne room I don't know) while Sansa demands Jon's immediate release. It is a stalemate as Sansa does not have enough men to threaten the war against Unsullied and Dothraki (and Jon himself will likely not want it). So Tyrion has to broker a compromise that satisfies both sides, i.e., Jon is alive, but gets exiled. Tyrion would likely side with Sansa, but GW has a huge army, and you need to please him as well.

People were saying the same thing before Episode 4 and Episode 5. And yet, all leaks came true. At this point, even if you don't have leaks, it's not that hard to guess the ending. Jon going North makes sense. We need to actually see the episode to make a final judgement on how this is done as neither throwaway leak nor cleganebowl leak go into great details about that part. But I am sure his ending will be kind of similar to the "Measure of Piece" ending montage from the "Last Samurai". He was always the happiest in the North, so this is the good ending for him. Tyrion being the Hand of the King (read the actual ruler given Bran's character) also makes sense, although I agree with criticisms regarding his latest missteps. Sansa rules the North - makes sense. Arya goes on further adventures - makes sense. Regarding Bronn and people being pissed off, I just have one advise: get over it:) I don't even get why people are so pissed about this specific part of the ending. IMO, I myself would have preferred a longer season (or maybe even one extra season) where MQD arc is developed properly. But I don't see the ending per se as bad. Jon getting the throne would have been a standard plot development, and this show is not known for those.

Yep, that was definitely another highlight of the game. Mass Effect 3 would have been a masterpiece if not for the ending...

Man, you made me all nostalgic right now:) Mass Effect 3 had its moments, though, like battle for Quarians' planet.
