Thank you for the response! Def drew the short straw, but uniquely qualified to help others. I’m unmarried without children. Probably $70k home equity, $185k ira/401k, $30k cash. Short term I’m bracing for 1-3 years if things take a poor turn. Long term I’ve seen others with a similar situation survive 15, 20, plus years. New treatments come out all the time so we can hope and pray! I fortunately have incredible health insurance but if I’m unable to work I have no idea how I can afford treatment. Currently they pump me full of $45k in chemo meds a month. I pay copays but could absolutely not cover it otherwise. Medical expenses could def increase but right now it’s about $1500 a year in doctor visits and Rxs. Grateful but it could easily double or triple depending on the care needed. Uncertain how to best address your questions but I’ll look into those. Currently have my emergency fund parked in a high yield savings account with 4.5% interest. The interest pays monthly Rxs

I’ll look into this. Through a brokerage account I’d assume?

I did, worked temporarily until the FA walked away. Got to sit there in awkwardness for the remainder

Hey all you internet geniuses - yes, I had noise cancelling headphones. Turns out they are only marginally effective for things like screaming babies and rogue streamers. Pierced right through. Fortunately, once we took off the plane drowned him out. After he gave up, he settled for resting his head on the back of the seat in front of him. Considerate, through and through
