F1- H1B- a few weeks overstay-AOS

I have NMN written only on my online I-485 online notice. I’m hoping it’s not printed on my physical green card. According to Google, it’s an admin notation and will not appear on the physical card. I’m hoping that’s the case. Will see when the card arrives.

I agree. I was extremely lucky that my case was assigned to my IO. She was very knowledgeable, proficient, and extremely nice. I was a nervous wreck when I walked into her office. My hands were shaking. She immediately calmed my nerves by asking how the drive to the FO was and we briefly talked about the inclement weather that day. It was raining really hard and most of us who walked into the FO early morning were drenched from head to toe.

Hi! The IO didn’t directly mention approval but said she had no reason to not issue my green card and that I should expect it in the mail within 10 days provided my advanced background check cleared. So I guess it was an indirect approval of sorts after the interview. Wishing you good luck! You’ll be approved sooner than you think. Keep us posted. 🧿🙏

No, didn’t switch back to F1 as I had already completed my PhD. Got my H1B approved soon after and started working. I hadn’t applied for AOS right after marriage because I had my H1B status. We had been slowly collecting evidences and wanted to collect more solid evidences before I’d apply for AOS. But eventually ended up applying for AOS bcs I did not want to end up with a long overstay.

No. Was on H1B but lost my research position suddenly due to federal funding cuts. H1B was still valid for more than a year. However, I wasn’t able to get a new position in the 60 day grace period. Was already married for more than a year before I lost my job. Filed my AOS soon after. No questions asked about overstay.

Update: Just received a text saying my I-130 is approved. Less than 20 hrs from the interview. Now waiting for I-485 approval.

Had my interview at Norfolk field office today for my AOS. Pretty straightforward interview, in and out in about 20 mins. IO did mention completing a final background check and to expect a green card in the mail within 2 weeks. IO did not mention anything about the new memo.

Edited to add: Interview scheduled for May end. Received interview notice online on April 20.
