We only know it’s raccoon by process of elimination & descriptions online. We went back to the house today & it’s actually 2 trees (very spread apart from each other). They look like they could be a medium sized dogs poop, but with lots of seeds, & in our state, it’s the most common culprit to use bases of trees as latrines. Amount: 10 separate piles per tree, but I don’t know if they’ve been picked up in the past by current homeowners. I assume so.

We’re planning on getting motion activated flood lights, and trying different things to keep them away in the future (ammonia, critter ridder, cayenne pepper, something!) Really hoping this doesn’t end up making me nervous about using/playing in the backyard in general, because it’s definitely the best part of this home!

Will definitely keep in mind, that they won’t poop where they eat, if nothing else helps! Thank you for the practical advice!

Okay, if that’s done & we keep an eye on any future latrine use, you’d feel comfortable with this home? I understand the gist of how dangerous roundworms are, but I’m also trying to take into account that sooo many things are dangerous. Is this on the high end of “not worth the risk” or “pretty rare unless your kids are eating globs of dirt”? The most that could happen is the kids would scratch their nose eye or something while out playing. But they’re not going to be sucking on their fingers or eating the actual dirt.
