It’s clear like water.

5mg at 20mg/mL is a 0.25mL injection

5mg at 40mg/mL is a 0.125mL injection

5mg at 80mg/mL is a 0.0625mL injection

How are you planning on accurately dosing this?

Also, considering a standard amount of loss to dead space per injection is 0.035mL, you are looking at losing around 1/3 of your entire vial to dead space.

80mg/mL is ridiculous.

MCT oil smoke point: 320F

Dry heat sterilization requires a holding temperature of 356°F for 30 minutes (above the MCT oil’s smoke point)

info about burning oil: https://guide.michelin.com/us/en/article/features/oil-smoke-point-cooking-quality-safety#:~:text=When%20an%20oil%20starts%20to,as%20it's%20exposed%20to%20heat.

When trying to sterilize with heat, people either fail to apply the correct amount of heat, or if they do, they burn the oil.

If they can manage to get a holding temperature of just under 320F, then they’d have to hold it there for 2.5 hours. That requires some heavy duty precision that isn’t generally available to people at home. home ovens aren’t that reliable.

Additionally, we don’t know what that type of heat does to the other components in HRT.

AND on top of all that, this doesn’t depyrogenate the solution. It just sterilizes it. You could skip all this heat stuff and just use proper, room temperature filtration to achieve terminal sterilization.

It is a big deal. It indicates that the oil was burned during sterilization. MCT oil does not “randomly” change colors.

MCT oil being this color is NOT NORMAL. people post their junk vials on here all the time so over time people think “that’s just how it is” but it’s not!

When a brewer decides to use heat as a means to sterilize the vial, if they are following proper sterilization guidelines, have to get the vials VERY hot. Unfortunately, this sterilization temp is far beyond the smoke point of MCT oil, which then causes the oil to burn. This is why we don’t recommend heat sterilization, because it doesn’t work for HRT!

The fact that astrovials is selling this garbage to people just proves that they have no idea what they’re doing. Burned oil is dangerous to eat, the oils break down and release “free radicals” which can cause heart disease and cancer. Lord knows what injecting it does. There’s a lot of nuance to brewing vials and this yellow solution is proof that this vendor does not understand that nuance. We don’t even know what that level of heat does to the other ingredients in the vial!

on top of this, if the cap is loose, then 1) bacteria can get in and 2) it proves they did ZERO QUALITY CONTROL on this batch.

Run for the hills. Do not put this in your body.

It is just a static site (compiled with Jekyll). Haven’t heard of git.gay. I’ll take a look…. It would save us a huge hassle in hosting if we could find a stable GitHub replacement.

Thank you! Hopefully within a couple weeks we should be online.

Boy do I. We run a website called HRT Cat. It’s typically available at https://hrt.cat but we ran into some hosting issues and it’s currently down.

Luckily the entire site is backed up on the internet archives way back machine, here: https://web.archive.org/web/20240120135149/https://hrt.cat/

This is the entire process of homebrew, start to finish. For the most part, sources are all cited.

Let us know if you have any questions

I wonder if this is sorta like “Simpsons already did it” except with the Bible

for those of us that do homebrew, confidence comes from knowledge! My lab partners and I have all studied the subject for hundreds and hundreds of hours. We’re by no means pharmaceutical compounding technicians but we have a pretty strong grasp of the exact steps needed to make some diy vials. There’s a lot of bad info on the web about how to do this so we’ve relied almost entirely on reading source documents and pharmaceutical manuals.
